TBC or not TBC

Holdfast

Actually thats a good question... I'd like to know that too. I don't think that it would be TBC because all the designations are only two letters long. Perhaps CS for Clone Scout? I don't know if they actually have a separate designation for it.

I guess current plans had been CB but as the name has changed to Kashyyk Trooper

or Kashyyk Scout as Peaches already mentioned it probably won't have any Bs in it.

CB would obviously spared for those real "Barc" Troopers. Even though classic scouts

are designated TB with the emphasis on Biker.

Also the term Kashyyk Scout (imo a wrong designation) is going to lead to a shared

prefix with the clone wars scout. I think both units have nothing in common but that

would be the consequence.

I never liked the abreviations of the legion - I think they're inconsistent and often

illogical but I odn't want to unroll another discussion here.

I really don't like the generic TC designation for this

I'd love to see it as KS - Kashyyyk Scout or better still KT - Kashyyyk Trooper

but I can't see that happening and I bet it just gets lumped into the TC bracket :(

As madphisto was saying, back when designations were being drawn up for the myriad of clone types, BC was picked for this trooper, because up to that point, all signs pointed to this trooper being called the BARC trooper.

However, since discussion here has floated to the Kashyyyk Trooper name, BC wouldn't be a logical choice. KC? For Kashyyyk Clone?

We'll have to get Chris to take this to the Legion Membership Officer, Rhonda, to see what we'll do about the designation...

Why did the name change in any case... BARC Trooper was perfect! Kashyyyk Trooper is way too specific, and only points to the one battle. If the US Army gave its medics new uniforms for Iraq, would they be called Baghdad Troopers then? That's just silly...

Where did this change come from anyway... Did George Lucas send a memo to the legion, and tell us we can't call it a BARC trooper anymore? :D

Army Scout posted this.

I have renamed all the forums to Kashyyyk Scout. After talking to a few folks in the know (LFL hookups) we needed to change :)

Chris

And postmortem01 posted this.

Just FYI.... Lucasfilm calls them Kashyyk Troopers. BARC troopers are the white guys. Don't know if that has any bearing on the subject. I know because I asked and they definately call the cammo guys Kashyyk Troopers.

BARC Troopers look similar to Commander Neyo:

Oddly enough, the troops that actually ride the clone speeder bikes might be the precursors of the scout troopers we know and love in ROTJ, but their armor is closer to that of standard clone troopers. Whereas the Kashyyyk Troopers are standard clone troopers in lighter, more flexible armor. From a fictional standpoint, it might be safe to assume that the BARC troopers that were the "ancestors" of the biker scouts adopted the lighter armor after the Clone Wars and sometime during the early days of the Galactic Empire, which was later modified to look like the TB armor.

  • 4 months later...

Ok guys, thanks for the input. I wanted to know for my tattoo that I am getting in a couple of weeks. If LFL refer to them as the Kashyyyk trooper then I'll go with CK then. Thanks again. I will post a pic up when I get the tattoo done. Cheers.

if you are getting a KS tattoo i might wait before i put any names on it. they might change the name again. i thought people were calling them clone scouts now. but ilm does call them kashyyyk scout.

you can always add the words or letters later.

i tattoo for a living so i try to warn people that tattos are going to be with you for the rest of your life. think before you ink.

Thanks for the tip. I might just get my legion number and add the prefix at a later date. Ta mate.
