TB0438
LOL I remember talking to you about casting the boot soles out of rubber (since they seem to be so unique). Looking forward to your progress mate :-)

Ghst915
I was lucky enough to get my hands on one of Mikes helmets hemade him self before passing on the bucket making to someone else. I'm waiting for Mike to finish this outfit before I start painting my helmet, this way I can paint the whole armor and helmet at the same time. I want to have the camo job to match. Guest skygunbro
I have been sick for over a month now..not to sound like a jerk but my health is more important at this point than making helmets for people. If I havent answered emails its nothing personal...At this point Im focusing on soft parts as I can do that without moving around to much. I will however once I get better be doing a samll run of the BARC helmets for people who want them.

Guest spooky-kid
I can't see any of the pics in the 1st thread. I'm trying to get reference pics 'cos I'm working on my kit right now. The underside of my visor is the same texture as the inside of the bucket. The pics I'm seeing , it looks like the underside of the visor is smooth like the outside of the bucket. How do I get mine smooth? What kinda Bondo do I get Automotive or putty or something completely different? So far I've only washed it, sanded it, washed it, sanded it washed it. Just bought a DREMEL specifically for this. Bought some primer too but I haven't even got all the edges smooth (or cut out the goggle area) , just sanded the surface all over. Still need to bondo areas as well. a damn "small" chip came off the bottom edge while holding it while sanding it. i don't think it' ll be noticable after it's completed. Today is day 3. I think I'm gonna brave it out and use the DREMEL sanding piece today to smooth all the edges. I'm going to really try and take my time on this. I want it completed really bad, to admire and show off but, I want it to look as kick @$$ as fetts' as possible. Hell, I took it to work today in it's rare stage still, to show off. I don't have a airbrush either. Went I was in school I only used acrylic/oil paints with brushes. Never did any airbrushing. I also need to get the bondo stuff still. I really wanna see if I can get the bottom of the visor more smooth without the texture.

How do I get mine smooth? What kinda Bondo do I get Automotive or putty or something completely different? I use a two part epoxy putty that smooths with water and layer it in a very smooth, thin layer. This also adds some girth to the visor as well. Magic-sculpt or any other product such as this could work or even a bondo type product as well. Only the first 2" or so are critical on the underside of the visor. Guest spooky-kid
ok, cool. could you tell me specifically which kinda bondo I'm suppose to get for the rest of the helmet? Day 3 went well, kinda. I got all the rough edges sanded down. BUT! when bringing it in from outside, I droped it and a small piece/chip cracked off. Superglued it back on and I think once i start putting some bondo down and sanding some more it won't be noticeable. Is anyone worried about the edges of the visor not matching the way it should to the corresponding sides of the helmet. Maybe I just lack confidence in myself. I'm sure it probably just needs more sanding. and once connected with the screws it will be fine. What and where do you recommend me getting my goggle area material? I like what you used fett. pghfett
The visor should be worked to fit snug, but there should be a slight gap all the way around. The visors I make are custom made out of lexan and mirror green window tint. Someone here at the board did use a green motorcross replacement lens that looks very good but I don't know what thread it was posted in :/ I can send ya some tint, free of charge, just drop me a pm with the info where to send it. Be advised, laying this stuff is not as easy as posted on the net, so take your time. I don't use bondo for the most part I use a product called Squadron putty or "green" putty that modelers use on the seam area and for minor imperfections. ~Mike

pghfett
Easy bro, slow down a bit... The two part epoxy is an epoxy clay that smooths with water. It's not the two part adhesive type epoxy, although it has these qualities as well. I have no problems with my pm's here (sometimes I wish I did lol) so you might want to talk to the admins about whatever problems your having. I have no clue what size or where you chipped your helmet so I don't want to offer an opinion on what to fill them with. You can use bondo if you want, the green putty is just my preferred putty to use on small imperfections. Don't rush the project, no offense, but it seems by your posts your really moving fast to get the project completed. If this is the case you should slow down, especially when you start the camo paint job if your doing one. The more quality time you put into the project the better it will turn out. I know it's hard to fight the desire to complete the project but if you can, slow down a bit. If I'm off the mark on this observation my error and disregard the above, ~Mike
Guest spooky-kid
trust me, I'm taking my time. I've only worked on it for 3 days. About and hour each time or less. I've only been sanding and washing so far.I'll see if i can get a pic of the of the chips to show you.
