The Pics in the photo area are fine, but I was wondering if anyone could "blow up" the area using software to get an accurate layout or rendition of the Tanks top greeblie area. I know Madphisto can do wonders in this area and perhaps someone else could dig up a nice draft of the tanks top. I don't have the skills to do this :( and need some help.

The upper picture has been posted here from someone. This is probably the best we can get. I don't have the DVD yet as I am waiting for the box, so I couldn't try to make screenshots in higher resolution.

Mad,

I'm currently sculpting the back plate/tank area, if it is not too much trouble, could you illustrate that tank top for me like you did with the gloves? :D

I know you don't have the DVD but perhaps you can toy around with what pics we do have, if you have time that is. I don't need it right away I'm just involved in the rough out stage at this point but I have made the tank top template and the cylinder of the tank. Once the back plate is roughed in I'll be "attaching" the tank and sculpting it to the back plate.

The pics are pretty clear, but I would like a better eye than mine to render a thought LOL ;)

Actually the whole detail stuff on the tank top is not that easily to identify.

So everything I can come up with will be highly speculative unless we get better shots or renders. But of course I can do it.

Your "speculations" are better than my hard found facts !!!! LOL :D

I hold your speculations in very high regard !

PLEASE, speculate your heart out LOL ;)

I have a few ideas as well and was wondering how "close" my thinking is.... <_<

Take the large circle on the top of the tank for instance, it appears (to me) to have a raised strip section running down the middle, but others think it's recessed..... <_<

That is easy to answer.....just look at our very own gallery here at BSN and you will see it is raised. There is one picture where the tank detail of the other Trooper at the far right is quite well shown from the side we don't see that muhc from these two pictures and it is raised but a more of the flat kind compared to the slim one of the scout.

here is the detail picture. should silence any people with doubts ;)

I guess they were just tricked by the shadow/light which is source for optical tricks in such a distance and also blurred motion cap.

With two kids I had to find some "quite" work while everyone is in bed, so having the top portion of the back plate tank completed on my armature and having it's dimensions, I constructed the back armor greeblie tank top. Here is pic of the final (well, nothing is final I've discovered LOL :) ) or version #1 of the greeblie plate I came up with. I posted a movie pic from above for comparison. Please stir up some commentary on this godd, bad, or otherwise....

Hey Mike the tank topper looks awsome dude, Id have to say your on the right track with it. With the pictures being so fuzzy to compare its close enough for me. Looks great.

Your " quiet work" looks amazing. I have been saving all of the pics you guys have been generating for "go to " info for our after DC project book. I am astounded every time you guys started breaking down a detail. Your attention to detail is amazing.

PS how would you say your call name here pghfett ?

hey - I like the controls - looks quit authentic anbd the arrangement seems to match the screens very well. I only think the depth of the base plate is a bit too wide.

your right again Mad, the arc of the base plate is wider here (on purpose) because I still have to add clay to the rear back plate near the neck. I left it a tad wider until I know exactly where my clay line will end where it meets the tank, then I will trim it up... ;)

WOW Pghfett,

Looks simply amazing. I was never on the "BARC wagon" but as more and more pieces come together I can't help but feel my costume arm being twisted against my will. :D

Keep up the great work

Before I got and play Devil's Advocate - I do have to say that your skill is WAY beyond anything I could ever try.

That said, the perfectionist in me now comes out and I wanted to point out a couple things I noticed and think may improve the look... (my numbers correspond to the circles I put on the pic)

BARC-Backplate.gif

1. I think these are rectangular - not round. In looking at the reference pics you have provided as well as trying to pause my DVD, they really do not look round to me.

2. This looks a little smaller in the reference pics and a little closer to the top edge.

3. This also looks closer tot he top edge and even with the bottom of the center cap, not below it.

Now, that being said, what you have done is great and I think will work, but you did ask...

Thanks for indulging me.

Thanks for the input, and I did indeed ask.

TI-1574, you must have better pics than me that I'm working from, could you please post pics of the close up pieces you have made referrence to of the tank top so I can make the neccessary changes ?

Or anyone for that matter who might have a better pic of the layout. Thats what I posted at the start of this thread (needed better pics), all I'm going off of is the pics above

I'd love to make these changes if they need to be made, once again it's version #1 ;)

Also, I'd like all opinions on this good, bad or otherwise. My goal is to make this as accurate as possible.

TI-1574 could you edit your pic to show what the pieces look like to you? I know they will be hard to edit them "smooth" with sofware but can you give me a rough idea ?

Thanks

~Mike

I will work on that for you - hopefully this week I'll get them up.

TI-1574 I thank you my friend, and I will adjust the tank top as needed ;)

Version #2 on the way LOL !!!!

Thanks :)

Here is a pic of the rear back plate and part of the chest plate and "Tank".

These pics are the "ROUGH IN" of the above items.

The angles and curves are NOT completed, just a partial rough in of proportions.

The pics are open for conversation and I thought I share some of the progress with my brother BARC's LOL :)

I tried to copy the rear pic of the BARCS in the treetops in the Battle Kashyyyk for comparison.

I have ton more sculpting to do before I start to refine everything, then we will really have fun together revising it - so POST for goodness sake - and I want honest info like TB above, get picky !!!!!! :D

over and out for now

The back plate on the bottom will be built up away from the armatures back consierably more. Also it will look "smaller" once I add the curves to the side tanks.

The lower portion of the large tank will be reduced and swept into the back plate at an angle.

I noticed it was too round as well - for now its better to have too much clay than too little.

One thing though, PLEASE do not hold up your work on acount of me. What you have made is phenominal.

TI-1574,

The Tank top is a secondary item I just chose to put together "quiet like" at night so I don't wake everyone up. I started it premature like so It's not a hold up item, just a rough in to show everyone for feedback and changes.

I am however looking forward to your pics :)

~Mike

thanks for the compliments as well, hope your mom is feeling better soon too :D
