Starting on Armor

Recommended Posts

Well, the time has come.

I have my DP helmet and my SC kit sitting on the floor and it's time to get started!

I'll be sanding down the rough/sharp edges of my armor with 3M SandBlaster 180 Fine Sandpaper.

A few other things I picked up were:

-Surebonder Rivets Remaches Aluminum 1/8'' diameter by 1/8'' grip. White Qty 100.

-SAE Flat Washers #6

-1/8 by 3/4 Fender Washer

- A few 1/4-20 x 1 Elevator Bolt

More pictures coming soon!

Glad to hear you guys are starting on your armor. Remember, take your time, this hobby requires patience, if you rush things it will definitely show. Good luck, if you have any questions feel free to ask, everyone here is happy to help!

personally, my philosophy is throw the first costume together as quick as you can, then sell it to some schmuck on eBay for enough money to do the costume right lol :)

But, time willing, I'll be doing it right the first time with MC armor and an MLC helmet. I may rush the suit for SDCC, but will definitely address any problems afterward.

To each their own :) Working slow and being patient is the way I will do it. I want to do this costume right the first time, so it shows I took my time and put all my effort into it. :D I don't have the funds to throw it together then try to sell it and hopefully make my money back - There aren't many things I've known people have been able to sell for profit, it seems costuming is one place this doesn't apply.

Measured, cut, and applied all of the white loop velcro to the of all armor pieces and started working on the thermal detonator. Thanks again for all the helpful information! This is the best resources ever! :D Updates coming next week.
