Snub999 Posted June 2, 2006 Posted June 2, 2006 I'm not a big fan of the BARC trooper, but I recognize quality work when I see it. Good work, and the tutorial is nice. Even if you aren't planning to make the helmet, it's neat to watch it's evolution.
TB-1019 Posted June 2, 2006 Posted June 2, 2006 Like Snub, I'm not on the BARC bandwagon, but one doesn't have to be to appreciate quality craftsmanship. Outstanding work, pghfett! You might convert me yet.

You might convert me yet. When I get time I'm gonna work up a white version as seen in the posted area showing the white BARC helmet. I promise to make it white and shiny and altered to match the concept art work that shows TM and the other clone helmets. This one to be exact... would you be game for this version, it wouldn't be hard to convert one of my helmets
TB-1019 Posted June 4, 2006 Posted June 4, 2006 If I ever did a BARC, it would be a white one. But, I'm working on a clone commander now, and my next project after that will be Darth Revan.

You know what I discovered, Alot of people are not attracted to the BARC I always liked the biker scouts but never got around to building the costume, then when the BARC's came along, I knew right then I wanted to build a BARC. Something about the scouts that is really appealing, and by that I mean both BS and BARC. Aside from Fett, it's BS and BARC's for me. Then again, a Darth ..... ahh it never ends ...
Army Scout Posted June 4, 2006 Posted June 4, 2006 I think once we get a completed suit done, that will change!!! We are working on a trooper that had a very brief time on camera. Snub999 Posted June 6, 2006 Posted June 6, 2006 When the armor is done, it will blow posers like this away. They're calling this the Legion's first BARC!
pghfett Posted June 6, 2006 Author Posted June 6, 2006 I just received my full scale 6' armature/mannequin and inbetween going blind on rudolphs camo job and pouring resin, I am going to sculpt right on top of the armature so I get the proper scale to all the armor. This will be FG armor, and my first attack will be the chest plate - an accurate one.

BrotherHalo Posted June 6, 2006 Posted June 6, 2006 We all are! The Legion's first BARC? Bah! Not to knock what the guy did, but the stuff we're researching here is gonna knock some socks off!
Ghst915 Posted June 6, 2006 Posted June 6, 2006 I have other projects of my own i am working on right now, but will be paying for my helmet this Friday and hope to get ASAP from Mike. I will be jumping right on this helmet as soon as I get it. This thing is awsome. This man has TALENT pure TALENT. By the way who is the action figure wanna be in the above picture? Anyone know?
imperialissue Posted June 7, 2006 Posted June 7, 2006 GREAT tutorial! Exceptional work. When applying the camo, are you applying the paint right out of the bottle or are you diluting it like you would for an airbrush?
pghfett Posted June 7, 2006 Author Posted June 7, 2006 GREAT tutorial! Exceptional work. When applying the camo, are you applying the paint right out of the bottle or are you diluting it like you would for an airbrush? Right out of the bottle using a #1 red sable brush and a 5/0 sable I put a ton of work into the helmets visor. Prep work prior to painting is everything. A friend suggested making frisket templates, I said "your nuts" for this type of camo job it has to be hand painted, plus it is kinda of the artists signiture, no helmet will be the same. Just like in the real world face painting and camo painting refelects the personality of the individual. I don't mind painting camo but you may consider painting your own patteren because it will have to match the rest of your armor as well.

pghfett Posted August 2, 2006 Author Posted August 2, 2006 Added dremel bits used for cut outs. These are the current bits I use to do all the cutouts on the base helemt and visor.
TB6675 Posted September 20, 2006 Posted September 20, 2006 Awesome tutorial!!! This is gonna help MAJORLY!!!! Thanks for putting it up
Ladyghost4459 Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 Are you doing the armor too? We are ready to jump on that. Got to get it done before C4 so we can have our brand new squard of BARCs.
Guest MandoMan Posted December 23, 2006 Posted December 23, 2006 A little late on this, but PGHFett, that helmet is absolutly stunning. Great work! I also have a quick side question. Someday I WILL put together some kind of biker or BARC. My question is would an all white BARC be accepted in the Pathfinders and 501st? I like the white and black of the biker, but I like the overall look of the BARC suit. Plus I admit I have clone fever (reason I'm diving into a Galactic Marine now).
jabbasdead Posted December 24, 2006 Posted December 24, 2006 How is the spacing inside the helmet in regards to is there space for someone that wears glasses? I can't wear my contacts for long periods of time so I was wondering if there was any more room compared to the scout helmet? Make any sense, the kids are driving me nuts right now

runnriottt Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 Like 1019 I am a bigger fan of the Biker scout. BUT DAMN! Awsome work. If I get Clone Fever.... BARC all the way! Waiting for armor and a "Clean" white version! Keep up the awsome work!
