Lonescout
Started to Paint my Knee Armor and I wanted to start on a smaller piece of armor, before I tackle the larger pieces of armor. The weathering is not included yet and I just wanted some advice good or bad! The paint Pghfett suggest is an excellent match. So tell me watch you think! pghfett
Nice work - Don't be afraid to add what camo pattern you like, if a spot looks too open sketch in with a pencil some pattern then look at it from a distance, if it looks good and pleasing to the eye, paint it up. That green wash is what sets it off - after weathering and such. Mike

Mike Originally I was going to sketch with a pencil, I will try this on the bicep Armor...I did not know if the lead from the Pencil penetrates the ink... I might, if you use a pencil do it very lightly just enough so you can see it. Look forward to seeing your finished work.

Well Done! You should be able to use the pencil on top of the ink without a problem.

mrbungle
old thread i know. but do you think if you painted it like you have then a light sanding with super fine sandpaper then a flat clear coat ,would get it closer to the screen used camo? I think so, Maybe!....the picks in some areas look smeared, smuged, etc. I have a smeared area on my front chest plate...and I think that look better....I just don't have enough armor to experiment! mrbungle
and also the metal underneath the paint should show in some plaes like with boba fetts. like scratches. i plan to paint my armor silver ,then mask the scratches , then primer, then the kakhi camo job. like a layered style. what do you think? Heatshock
interesting thought just a little point from the clone trooper world though 1 method people use for weathering in a pure white clone is to do a black layer, then white. then sand through the white to the black layer. other method is like the sandtroopers do - with topical application, but again its dirt (fullers earth) and black mostly. the layer technique seems to be reserved for the weathering on the coloured parts of clone armour. in the pure white clones - dont think any of the armour scratched down to a silver layer. in fact - should there even be a silver layer in clone armour?? in my one track clone mind - I hadnt even thought of havin a silver layer discuss! mrbungle
in the movie stills there are clearly scratches of silver. phgfett put some on his.
