Fulcrum0025 Posted March 10 Posted March 10 I‘ve finished the basic painting of the scope, but I'm having trouble connecting. To make it portable, I'm not planning to glue. But I'm trying to make it detachable. I'm wondering how to achieve an assembly method between the scope and the gun body. photo: https://photo.baidu.com/photo/wap/albumShare?shareId=142915537851668779 Quote
Chopper Posted March 10 Posted March 10 You can either use rare earth magnets or you can add some rods to the bottom of the scope with corresponding holes sunk into the body of the rifle. Quote
Aradun Posted March 10 Posted March 10 Here’s how I did mine:The magnets in the scope are recessed flush. The magnets on the DLT are glued to the surface. Quote

Thanks! But is the glue strong enough to hold the magnets? Sometimes the magnetic force is way too stronger than the glue... Quote

Aradun Posted March 11 Posted March 11 I used E6000 and have had no issues with the bond. Not sure if that’s available in China or what the equivalent would be if it isn’t. I don’t think CA glue would hold over time. 8 hours ago, Fulcrum0025 said: Thanks! But is the glue strong enough to hold the magnets? Sometimes the magnetic force is way too stronger than the glue... They are both called "jewery glue". Quote
Chopper Posted March 11 Posted March 11 3M CA40H is a cyanoacrylate adhesive, same as superglue or krazyglue. CA sometimes has a mixed record with metals, but it will likely work if the magnets are countersunk into the plastic and there's enough surface area for the bond. Test it first before using it on everything. Quote

I've tested several glues, and I decide to use E6000 or 401 to attach the magnets after drilling a couple of holes to place them. 1 Quote
