Nostromo Posted yesterday at 02:28 AM Share Posted yesterday at 02:28 AM The trapezoid waterslide decals on my scout helmet are already taking a beating. Fixed the first scratches with paint pens but it’s happened again in short order. Lacquer protectant was advised in older posts. Anyone had success with that method and is a particular variety or brand recommended? Very satisfied with the armor maker and they kindly provided replacement decals but I worry it won’t be sustainable to replace them so frequently. https://imgur.com/hEDdLhP
Chopper Posted yesterday at 03:03 AM Share Posted yesterday at 03:03 AM Where'd you get the helmet from? As far as I know, RS is the only one who offers waterside decals with their helmets. A clearcoat will protect the decals to a point, though I recommend you do some careful masking around the decal edges first. Rustoleum painters touch semi glass clear coat should work, but be careful when spraying. Too heavy of a coat at once can cause crackling or bubbling issues.
Nostromo Posted yesterday at 03:55 AM Author Share Posted yesterday at 03:55 AM Armor and helmet are from RS and their team has been great on this. It’s just becoming clear I’m too clumsy to prevent bumps and scrapes.
