Stovie
Alright Troops. Thanks to some help on some other threads i opted to go for the Galactic Armory files to 3D print. They seems suitable with some elements needing small adjustments as part of post print processing, so hopefully starting of in the right direction. Decided to start small with aim of printing and finishing these items to the required standard, and if finish is decent to crack on with the additional million hours of printing and prepping First Prints: 1. EC-17 Blaster/Pistol 2. Boot Holster (excuse the masking tape, small breakage issue....glue drying). As always any feedback appreciated as i start and go through my journey....be nice
Chopper
Note that we do not have unlimited photo hosting on the forums, so, for full size images, you'll have to use a hosting service. See this thread for more info: https://forum.501stpathfinders.com/topic/23053-faq-how-do-i-post-images/#comment-216514
Stovie
@Chopper no worries. I’ll refrain from sticking images here, cheers for the thread link. 👍🏻
Chopper
Well, we do want you to attach images as a part of your WIP, it's just that you'll need to use a hosting service to do so.
Stovie
Howdy. Man....I think I could be one of those nightmare forum members, maybe I need to find someone local to blether to! So as above, printed blaster and holster, but not overly happy but not sure what one if wrong (granted the GA files, need tweaking - but views didn't raise to much on holster). My goal would be Level 1 so i can join in with the odd troop (love the work you do)...so not needing movie accuracy for my first pass. These just look way off, however I have dug about and sizes seem fine, certainly meet the number I have seen on some threads so i am lost. Questions: 1. Has anyone else used or using the Galactic Armory files and had issues with holster? (I got files this week and apparently many issues already addressed - although still not perfect)? If so, any pictures of finished holster/blaster together. 2. Stupid one....I can only get 3 fingers in trigger area of blaster, imagine with gloves maybe only two, is it that small? Cheers again. Chopper
You can see a finished photo of the GA holster in this photo: The holdout blaster is not very big and you should not expect to fit your whole hand through it. See reference image from ROTJ, below.
Stovie
@Chopper does the GA kit pass muster for level 1, have you had to rework anything.
Chopper
That photo is not mine, it's from the thread posted evaluating the model: When we looked at the reworked model our assessment was that it would pass basic clearance, though quite honestly, the model is still not great. On 10/25/2024 at 7:04 AM, Chopper said: The vendor has updated their files to fix the issues we raised. It's not the best model, but it should meet basic clearance requirements. I suggest you reach out to user @LookBehindYou if you need firsthand experience with any modifications to the model.

I had the GA files before they were redone and ended up not using the holster, shoulders, TD, and the forearms from them. MrPoopie hooked me up with those files to make it easier for approval. Me on the speeder bike. 1
Stovie
@LookBehindYou I may give you a shout if that is okay. Going to print the bits slowly and try make sure they make muster or I can tweak the physical item (post print). is it worth reaching out to MrPoopie for any specific files? It’s hard to say because I’m not sure what all has been fixed by GA, with the originals I know the holster was never going to fly, the shoulders had a weird point and were super thick, the TD lacked a lot of detail. Oh and the snout pieces, I used his as well.
Chopper
I would reach out to Mr. Poopie to get his files.
