Starting a New Mando Scout Build!

 

Hey everyone! Finally diving into a Mando Scout build, and I’ve got my BOM options lined up. I’m no stranger to armor builds—got a DT and TK in the collection already—but this one’s a little different, so big thanks to all the awesome build threads on here that helped me get started! Can’t wait to see how this turns out, and I’m always up for any tips to make this build even better. Let’s do this!

Hiya, you seem to have done your research as you have most of the vendors listed on your spreadsheet. Are you still deciding on who to go with for armor and other soft goods?

Great to see another Imperial Remnant scout in the works. I was wondering the same as Chopper

You can probably save yourself some $ and make the boots yourself. I had some reservations about doing mine, but trust me, easy as!

I am still deciding. Watching prices as well. Some do offer Black Friday deals. RS is currently, albeit slowly, unveiling their deals.

Will need to look into the boot builds and decide if it’s for me

I can tell you just to get the flightsuit and gloves from Wampawear.

Good advice. I’ve seen them with cog patches. Those are acceptable on the flight suit so long as they are covered by the shoulder bell?

I was put off WTF, even though they are screen accurate for this costume, as they couldn’t give me a definitive production period despite wanting payment up front. I went with SC as i’d read good things about them on these forums. They shipped bang on time too

I went with KeepTrooping for my flightsuit, but if you’re US-based it makes sense to go with what’s local to you and save a bit on postage.

Wampawear all the way for the gloves though!

I should just point out that WTF has redone their Scout.  It is more accurate to ROTJ than their original offering (which was used on the TV show).

Good point too. Levels the playing field for those doing ROTJ scouts, but also for Remnant scouts - but not necessarily in a good way

You'd have to clarify with Walt, but I was under the impression that he was still going to offer his old scout armor for Mando builds?

His new helmet is a Lone Wolf, which is much better than his banned V1 helmet. 

And just for the record -- the V1 helmet was not used in the TV show.

I’ve bought from Walt in the past. Was a good experience. He helped me out with some additional ABS sheets in a pinch. Nice guy.

I’m a huge RS fan. My TK is from them. All said, I’m looking through the forums here to help make a final decision.

Question on the neck seal.  Will a standard TK neck seal work for approval?  This is the one, it has a zipper close and is more comfortable IMO.

Looking forward to seeing your build. I loved my MC kits and gear that I got. My Snow Scout was a lot of MC kits, plus some SC. Plus I had their TS and Imperial Navy helmet. All of it was top-notch.

Thanks Chopper, that's my TK neckseal!  You answered my edited question above.  It is indeed very comfortable.

The specifications for the Mando Scout neck seal are fairly general, so a TK neck seal should work just fine.

Neck Seal Black with horizontal ribs. Conceals the entire neck. Fitted to the wearer.

Playing around with the idea of Grogu ‘talking’ while in the bag. Similar to my button activated Tramp setup.

Found this little plush Grogu on Black Friday sale. He loops 10+ different Grogu babble sounds. I Gutted the electronics and added a small amp and speaker (also a deal..lol).

I’ll clean up the wiring and add a lithium stick to power the board, but it is shockingly loud and simple.

It’s also small enough to place in the pack.

My wife hates the sound, because its sounds ‘sad’. But that’s perfect for this build (evil laugh).

Build Progress Update:

Picked up a Black Series helmet during Black Friday sales to experiment with weathering techniques and use as a reference for the overall helmet build. While waiting on armor, I’ve focused on the blaster. Started 3D printing several Noisy Cricket models, with the latest being from Mr. Poopie. His design is well-split for my Prusa setup and offers excellent options for integrating magnets. Progress is steady and promising!

Finished with this Grogu sound effects-in-a-bag. I’ve got the volume down in this video, but it gets fairly loud. Button on the bag side activates the noises.
