Sgt.Bilko Posted March 12 Author Posted March 12 9 hours ago, Tarok said: Are you doing the oils technique? Slather on the oil paint, wipe it down and then stipple where appropriate? Looks good, although id probably remove a bit more. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Yes. Oddly, I thought the opposite. The weathering seems a bit light compared to the CRL/reference pics. Maybe the second picture was in too dark of lighting. I'll try and get a better lit situation. Thanks for the feedback. 1 Quote
Chopper Posted March 12 Posted March 12 To get a sense of the weathering, usually the best lighting is outdoor lighting. 2 Quote

Chopper Posted March 12 Posted March 12 You're close but I would knock the weathering down just a bit. 4 Quote

Sgt.Bilko Posted March 15 Author Posted March 15 @Chopper / @Tarok , does this look better? I’m going to use these to calibrate my tendency to over weather. Thanks!Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
Chopper Posted March 15 Posted March 15 It looks fine but as I said earlier, outdoor lighting is best for judging that sort of thing. 1 Quote
Sgt.Bilko Posted March 16 Author Posted March 16 A little cloudy today, but an outdoor shot.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote

Sgt.Bilko Posted March 16 Author Posted March 16 This was the first time weathering armor for me. I really struggled with the darkness tone needed. Also, my technique at the beginning was all wrong. ImI went back to Chrristina’s YouTube video and watched over again at 0.25 speed. Then things started to make more sense.I went back to Ace and bought the smaller brushes (not just the medium sized chip). This was my ah ha moment.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1 Quote

Sgt.Bilko Posted March 22 Author Posted March 22 Thanks. Next up, soft parts. I’ll trial on an inconspicuous area first or on some extra fabric to get the technique down.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 2 Quote
