Sentinel-Wraith Posted August 31, 2024 Posted August 31, 2024 Recently, my boot holster has started to crack around the 4 metal connectors and become detached from the boot. Would there be any reccomendations where I could get that single part to replace it, and what I could do in the future to prevent it from cracking?
Aradun Posted August 31, 2024 Posted August 31, 2024 You can pick up a new holster here:https://studiocreations.com/howto/bikerscout/forsale_bike_replacementparts.htmlAs for preventing it from happening again, you can add some ABS behind each of the four corners to reinforce them before drilling them for your rivets. 2

Thank you so much! I'll work on replacing it with those upgrades. 1
Sentinel-Wraith Posted October 21, 2024 Author Posted October 21, 2024 Thank you again for the support! I used ABS scraps to make cirular reinforcements for each rivet section, and they attached very well. I also threw in some Neodymium magnets for the holster and that seemed to work very well! 1
Dart Posted October 21, 2024 Posted October 21, 2024 So, here's the thing... they'll pretty much always break at some point. The best way to mitigate this is by drilling the holes a bit farther in (about 10mm/ about 3/8") in from the edge. You could go a bit farther in (15mm/ about 5/8") but not more than that. And do like the above by putting on some backing on the inside of the boot as well to help take the strain. Also, be mindful of how you pack your boots afterwards. Make sure there's nothing that's going to knock into them or possibly press down on the holster. And when you're trooping, try not to whack it on something as you're walking by. I've had to replace my holster 2 times and now with my new kit, I'll be on #3. It happens. 1
