Nes Posted January 1 Author Posted January 1 Hi. Happy new year. Can you tell me a manufacturer that makes good biker scout helmets? I'm thinking about buying a new helmet in the next few months.
Chopper Posted January 1 Posted January 1 Don't you have an RS helmet? That's about as good as it gets in terms of helmets. Does it not fit on your head? 1
Nes Posted January 1 Author Posted January 1 The helmet is fine for me, but I don't know if I'm just an ignoramus, but I'm not completely convinced. I get the feeling that it's poorly made.
Chopper Posted January 1 Posted January 1 The RS helmet is the most accurate scout helmet available, because the RS is created from a Lucasfilm production used helmet. If there are things that are uneven or asymmetrical, it's because they were that way on the screen helmets as well. 2
Nes Posted January 1 Author Posted January 1 I really like the RS Props helmet, but I´ve been told that there may be some flaws, which I´ll mention below. So I don´t know if it´s something normal with the helmet or if it´s due to poor assembly, and I´m afraid it can´t be validated
Chopper Posted January 1 Posted January 1 There is nothing wrong with the items you've highlighted. If a GML has issues with it, which I very much doubt will be the case, then they can reach out to the Pathfinders command staff. Here is one of the screen used helmets. It has the same sort of misalignment and molding rim. 1
Nes Posted January 1 Author Posted January 1 Yes. Thanks. I see that it’s the same as mine. I feel more at ease. Maybe the people who told me were not so sure.
Nes Posted January 7 Author Posted January 7 I'm reinforcing the front armor. Do you recommend reinforcing the rear armor?
Nes Posted January 12 Author Posted January 12 Good afternoon. I have another question before I put on the suit. I think the belt has to be attached to the flightsuit with Velcro. How do I attach it if I don't know yet if I'm going to have to modify the flightsuit?
Escrich Trooper Posted January 12 Posted January 12 It’s not necessary for the belt to have velcro to be attached to the flighsuit - The belt closure must be with Velcro and not with buckles 1
Chopper Posted January 12 Posted January 12 Some people attach to belt to their cod or flight suit to keep it from slipping down in front. It is not a requirement and not everyone needs the modification. 2
Nes Posted January 12 Author Posted January 12 I'm stuffing the inside of the helmet and when I try it on, my nose touches the front of the visor. Is this okay or maybe I put too much stuffing in the back?
Nes Posted January 12 Author Posted January 12 When I put on the helmet and move my head a little, you can see a bit of the black rubber of the chin strap: If I use a narrower black elastic band, you can see the opening where the elastic band is inserted: How can I prevent this from happening to me?
BikerScout007 Posted January 13 Posted January 13 The gap is normal and was featured on Scouts in the film. Please consult the Scoutopedia for production images https://www.501stpathfinders.com/scoutopedia.php 2
Nes Posted Sunday at 11:59 PM Author Posted Sunday at 11:59 PM In this photo I show the white pouchers that I haven´t put in yet because I´m going to wait for you to tell me what alterations I have to make to the suit in order to order everything together with the dressmaker. I took this photo to show that the armor is white, since the photos below come out a little yellow because of the light. These photos with the suit are to tell me what things I have to fix or put right. The blaster
Chopper Posted Monday at 12:34 AM Posted Monday at 12:34 AM For basic clearance, I don't see any overall major fit issues with your kit. The one item that should be addressed is the sleeve width. You should get the sleeves brought in a bit, so that they don't fold and crumple so much. See photo. If the vest is already being altered, you could also hem it so that it's about 1.5"/38mm past the edge of the shoulder bell, but that's a Level 2/Lancer requirement. The new pouches look much better than the brown ones that were supplied. You can get rid of the brown ones. 2
Nes Posted Monday at 01:07 AM Author Posted Monday at 01:07 AM Ok. Could the problem with the sleeves that you mention be because the flightsuit might be a bit big on me?
Chopper Posted Monday at 03:34 AM Posted Monday at 03:34 AM It looks like an issue with the flak vest sleeves, not the flightsuit. You could also try loosening the shoulder armor elastic a bit. 2
Nes Posted Monday at 08:43 AM Author Posted Monday at 08:43 AM Ok. I also noticed that the boots are a little high and touch the knee pad. How much more or less could I cut so that I have a space between the knee pad and the end of the boot?
Chopper Posted Monday at 10:37 AM Posted Monday at 10:37 AM I do not recommend trying to cut or modify the Keep Trooping boots. Doing so will likely ruin them. Pull your knee armor up about 1 inch/25mm. 1
Nes Posted Monday at 11:58 AM Author Posted Monday at 11:58 AM Ok. In this photo you can see the velcro on the cummerbund. Is there a solution? or would I have to make a new cummerbund? At the bottom left, I see some excess. Can I fix this by pulling the flightsuit down to stretch them? Is there any excess on the butt flap?
Aradun Posted Monday at 04:21 PM Posted Monday at 04:21 PM For the leg flare you noted: Add some 3/4” strapping to your flight suit across the opening of your foot to create a stirrup under the arch of your foot. That way the legs of the flight suit are pulled taunt when you put them on and they won’t ride up when you put on the boots. The butt flap should be shortened, but wait for @Chopper to tell you how much. Also, Chopper, what are your thoughts on the front patches? The front patches have hard corners, and I know GMLs tend to look for more rounded corners to match the CRL images. Not sure if it’s an issue for basic though. 2
Chopper Posted yesterday at 01:06 AM Posted yesterday at 01:06 AM Eyeballing it, but I'd put the flap at about here, in green. For basic clearance, I'd hold off on surgery on the front riding patches, depending on GML preference. 3
