knightscape Posted August 9, 2024 Posted August 9, 2024 Time for me to get started. This is my first step into costume building. I believe I've assembled all the various bits I need for the hard parts side of things. I have one of Walt's new updated V2 kits for the ROTJ Scout Trooper. Just got rolling on the trimming, started with the belt since that seemed the most straightforward. As much as I want to charge into gluing up the helmet, I'll be approaching that slowly, probably need to pick up a few more small spring clamps to secure it while it cures. So far I've been scouring the scoutopedia to start looking for where my trimming lines should begin on the rest of the pieces. Off we go. 1
BikerScout007 Posted August 9, 2024 Posted August 9, 2024 Awesome! Looking forward to seeing one of the v2 kits getting built!

knightscape Posted August 12, 2024 Author Posted August 12, 2024 My blaster arrived shockingly fast from Blaster Works, I am really impressed with the quality and detail! Aside from that, I've been picking away at the basic trimming. I don't know if all lexan scissors are as bad as the ones I've got but I found the using full size tin snips is much simpler for me.Sent from my Pixel 6 using Tapatalk 1
knightscape Posted August 12, 2024 Author Posted August 12, 2024 I think I have my first question: at the bottom of the chest armor it looks like there's about maybe 1 cm from where the two pectoral pieces come together in the base of the v groove to the bottom from what I can tell on the various videos and crl resources. Does my cut line look about right for this piece? The shape of the bottom of this chest piece looks like it has a little bit of a harder angle than some of the other kits.
Chopper Posted August 12, 2024 Posted August 12, 2024 I'd add a bit more space at the bottom, maybe another `1/4", especially if you intend to add the "V" cut that some troopers add. The "V" cut is also a stress point, so it will need some reinforcement on the back end.
knightscape Posted August 12, 2024 Author Posted August 12, 2024 Thanks Chopper, this is at about 5/8" from the vee in the pecks. Better?
