Large Helmet Options

So I've got a bigger head (24") and wondering which vendor would be best.

I'd love RS but will that be too tight for me?

I have an RS helmet and it fits my big dome just fine.   I got a 60cm head.   The RS is on the larger side of helmets as the originals were fairly large.

Most helmets will work for a large head, with the exception of the Studio Creations helmet, which runs small.

A word on RS. If you’re buying new from them you’ll have no issue with fit.

However, if you’re looking at a used helmet make sure it is not one of their older Red Label helmets. Several years ago RS produced two versions of their bucket. Both were identical in every respect except material. The Red Label was a more affordable option in comparison to their full ABS bucket.

The bucket itself on the Red Label was fiberglass and the face shield and visor was ABS. Unlike ABS, the fiberglass has very little flex to it and you may find it a challenge to get over your head. You can tell a Red Label by looking at the interior of the bucket. If it’s lined in black fabric it’s fiberglass. If it has no lining its ABS and you’ll have no issue.

RS no longer makes the Red Label version of their helmet so buying new will get you a full ABS helmet and you’ll have no issues with fit.
