In the words of Thanos… “I’ll do it myself.”

Super bummed that my OG Dennis jacket just absolutely fell apart, I’m taking up the challenge of re-creating the OG jacket with the ribs, smooth leather, and stitched leather.

Please be gentle, and let me know what you think! 🤣

Aaaaaand… it’s done… Just… Damn.

It looks and feels amazing, and learned how to fix the dang timing belt on my sewing machine.

Plus, added a little homage to the original jacket.

Wow, marvelous work! It’s not easy getting tight, consistent stitches like that. Really stellar! :)

Finally had two weekends where I was able to sit down and really work through this.
This is also the 2nd fabric I had to buy. The first fabric I tried would not handle the “non-padded” ribbing.
There are a lot of “test squares” in my craft area. LOL!
Went quick and smooth once the fabric was figured out, and I trained myself on how to get the tight stitching.
Can’t wait to troop in her once again!!
But seriously, thank you all for your kind words. I still can’t believe how it came out!!

I’m sure someone with the ambition to follow in your footsteps and make their own will ask eventually, so . . . what was the name of the fabric you used and is there a link to it?

Again fantastic job!

Sorry, was a busy day at work!

The leather fabric is from Koshtex on Etsy.
“Stretchy Vegan Soft Leather Fabric by the Yard 2 Way Stretch Black“

I used 2 yards for a jacket that I would put in the Large / Extra Large category.  I also had a very scary small amount left over. LOL!
I really think the stretchy factor helped so much with the single, non-padded stitching. I tried a faux leather from Joann’s that was just horrific.
For the padded parts, I did have Joann’s black scuba fabric. I think I stole this idea from the Shore Trooper soft parts (don’t tell them!)

As for the actual ribbing… patience, and a seam ruler attachment to the sewing foot. I marked how big I wanted the ribs, and just took my time. Doing all of the sections separately also helped.
Only other critique I have is that since this was my first project with a zipper, I didn’t pay attention and bought a zipper that’s used for pullovers, and not for jackets. I don’t think I’m overly mad at it being a pull over, though.
It looks so surreal that it’s done. I honestly didn’t think I could do it. This costume means a lot to me, and it was a gut punch when the first jacket fell apart.
But if I can do it? So can you!!
Let me know what other questions you have!

Correction… Black Scuba Fabric was suggested by the super awesome @KOtrooper.  She put up with me A LOT. LOL!! 💙💙
