So there was some time ago... I think around a year or so, where I was looking at pics of the movie Biker Scout, and started noticing that the white soft parts looked like they were made of a glossy fabric that matched the hard armor. Has anyone else noticed this? All the replicas I've seen always been made from matte fabrics (at least for the exterior side), including my own. I actually entertained the idea of buying some glossy fabric and get a 'bund made from it to see how it looks. What do you guys think? Would glossy cummerbunds pair better with the armor for the Biker Scout? Is it even accurate to the movie production costumes? Let me know!

The cummerbund and codpiece were made from polished white cotton in the film, which gave it its shine in some lights.

In the CRL for the Level 2 requirements, we state:

  • Polished cotton or mercerized cotton is preferred. Canvas or duck cloth is not permitted.

A smooth cotton fabric with a sheen is what many of us go for.  Sometimes a cotton/poly blend can give you the same effect.

What ^he^ said. Also, polished cotton as it existed in the 1980's, is not really available anymore, so the above mentioned alternatives are the best option. I've also used the dull side of heavy satin fabric (has some sheen but isn't really shiny).
