What kind of Spraypaint color?

Hello guys i started building a RotJ Scout Trooper the amor is 3d printed the helmet is from New Image Prop replicas. I spray painted my amor and thought it looked great. Afterwards i compared it with the helmet and noticed the big color gap. The helmet is more pure white. Do you guys know a matching paint color that gets as close as possible to the New image prop replicas helmet?

I can't say for sure what New Image uses for their exact paint color and I am not sure what it would be called in Germany, but if you can get a can of what's usually called "Appliance White", then that should be close at least to the helmet color. Otherwise, you may need to try a few brands of pure white on some scrap plastic to see how well they match.

Note that the helmet and armor do not need to be an exact pantone match for clearance, but drastically noticeable color differences may be an issue.

You can also try emailing New Image to see if they can tell you the exact color or brand that they use.

I also have the New Image Prop helmet - I emailed him about paint too, and his reply was "Diamond White". I could not find anything conclusive on that paint and emailed him again twice for clarification, never got a response.

I ended up using Rust-oleum painter's touch 2X premium High-Gloss white (their # 331171) as that was the closest I could find in a spray paint - and I tried several.

You can see my build progress in the forums, and my Lancer application (on hold) too for color comparison.

Thank you for your help, your build looks great. Did you us anything after you spray painted it in white because it looks so glossy like a sealer or something?

I think it woukd be best if you could tell yourself if its to much of a color gap but i cant put up photos in here because they are to big.

make sure to read the instructions and use EXACTLY how it says, or it will do strange things- I had to redo a few pieces because I did not follow the instructions correctly.

Thank you for your help, unfortunetly i cant get my hands on this type of spray paint because they dont sell this stuff in germany i will look for something else. But still a big thank you to everyone that answered.

I don’t know if it will match the color perfectly. I used it for my helmet and matched the color of the SC armor quiet well.

Genau das habe ich benutzt für meine rüstung lustigerweise. Der Helm setzt sich jedoch schon davon ab. Bin mir nicht sicher ob das inordung ist. (I used this exact paint for my amor. The color of the helmet is still a bit diffrent and i dont know if that would get me approved)

Hmmm... Die richtig Farbe zu bekommen ist dann schon eher schwierig. Planst du die Rüstung zu weathern? Ggfs. fällt es dann auch nicht so auf. Ansonsten kannst du dich zusätzlich noch im Forum der German Garrison anmelden. Da kannst du das parallel anfragen.

Ja hab sie jetzt geweathered hat definitiv geholfen wenn ich jetzt noch klar lack zum versiegeln benutze sollte der unterschied nicht mehr so stark erkennbar sein. Würde gerne ein Bild hochladen damit erfahrene Mitglieder es bewerten können aber die datein sind zu groß, dass sagt zumindest das forum hier

That's not a huge difference in shade. I think the primary issue is that the finish is very different. If you put a gloss or semi gloss coat on the armor, I don't think the difference will be as apparent.

Like @chopper said, it’s not that huge difference. Maybe you should got small cans of gloss and semi gloss clear coat and test it on some spare parts to get the best matching results. I used clear coat from my local hardware store (toom)

So it shouldnt be aproblem if i get them parts glossy aswell because its a dream of mine to get accepted.

The most important thing is the CRL. And it says „Gloss white or semi-gloss and may be lightly weathered.“ for every single part of the hardparts of the armor. I guess it would be more of an issue if the the helmet is gloss and the rest is semi gloss.

What would you say fits better is the helmet gloss or semi gloss white?

I think it looks good so far. Maybe it could be a little bit more shinier. But most of the time it comes all together when you take pictures of the whole armor.
