karroll
hi all, I've just recently started making a shoretrooper kit, not sure whether to go with grunt, captain, or squad leader, and thought i'd come here for a bit of advice, (and for a bit more incentive), I'm using Sean Fields' files for just about everything, with a few modified parts off thingiverse. karroll
I'd like to note that I'm trying to keep this relatively cheap, by 3d printing just about everything, save ammo pouch and softkit. by way of paints I've decided to go with a black undercoat for everything plastic, then Mont. gold sahara beige, I couldn't find the actual toyota super red 3e5, but I've found a can of cherry red that looks fairly similar, same story with the blue, can't find anywhere offering the original color, (i believe it's a vintage ford), but I did come across a similar teal blue, which I might be able to weather enough to make it less noticeable. If anyone knows where I can get a better blue, red, and yellow for the accents, I'd love to hear from you. I'm at a bit of a crossroads by way of the trousers, as I reckon I could make them if I can find the right material, but it might be more worthwhile to just buy them somewhere I would greatly appreciate any advice, especially regarding fixings, colours, and fabric. KOtrooper
Hey - you'll want to do a dark brown instead of black for the undercoat. Have you checked a car store for the Toyota red? That's where I found mine. For the blue (which you don't need if going for a grunt), I had a custom can mixed for L2. If you're just going for basic approval, check out one of the Montana gold colors. Use this page for a starter: I used brown duck cloth for my pants - hopefully it's easy to find at most fabric stores. I got mine at Joanns in the States.
karroll
Thanks for the tip, had a look around and I've found a few that might work, I had a look around for the official paints mentioned, but cant find many that ship to au, aside from the Mont gold stuff. Here's all i could find to substitute the red and blue https://www.automegastore.com.au/dupli-color-engine-enamel-ford-blue-340g https://www.supercheapauto.com.au/p/5-star-5-star-enamel-spray-paint-cherry-red-250g/677463.html#q=cherry%2Bred&lang=en_AU&start=1 https://www.supercheapauto.com.au/p/export-export-enamel-paint-cherry-red---250g/573736.html I'll test them out on some scrap anyway, just to make sure. also while I'm here, does anyone have the stl for Sean Fields' right kneecap piece? i cant seem to find it
