Nairy Posted December 21, 2023 Share Posted December 21, 2023 Hello everyone! I'm Nairy, active member over at FISD. I'm from Sweden and joined the Legion in August last year! So far, I've not had the urge to get any new costumes, but that being said - I'm looking around to see what options I have around me if that would be the case in the future! Our forums are very much alike so I'm not a total newbie when it comes to navigating the them, however, I looked through the vendor sales thread, but didn't find any information on any people that take on Patrol Trooper commissions! Is this the case or did I just not look in the right place? Further questions about the Patrol Trooper: As a TK - you can't sit down (ofc), but are you able to sit down somewhat in a Patrol Trooper costume? The only thing I'm thinking that would make that hard would be the stomach piece being very rigid and tight on the body as well as the cod piece! I personally am not sure about anyone doing full commissions as I think all of our Patrol Troopers built their kits from multiple vendors (armor, soft goods, etc. Someone else may be able to enlighten us on that issue though. As for the mobility part of your question. I'm able to sit down in my kit pretty easily. It's not as comfortable as my Scout but it's not difficult either. The cod piece is only attached at the belt with Velcro on the backside so it moves freely. My mid-section is printed using TPU (flexible filament) and has a decent amount of flex and give so it's not as rigid as some other kits. The chest and back cab be a bit bulky but they are not attached to the mid section so there's room for movement there. The area where I have the most trouble is the neck. The bottom of the helmet sits very close to the upper shoulder bridges and neck collar so side to side head movement and looking downward can be a bit of a struggle at times. It's a worthwhile kit to build but make sure that you can source all your parts before diving in completely. The jacket is the most difficult item to acquire. As for the helmet movement I'm used to the TK and I doubt that it is more different to that, so I think it would be more or less the same! Sounds great about the sitting situation! I think this might seriously consider this one as my next costume! What are your thoughts about the Denuo Novo helmet? Have any of you pre-ordered it? If not, why? (Excluding that it is super expensive) It's a great looking helmet but I haven't seen one in the wild. Its' been "Pre-order" for as long as I can remember. The only PT helmets that I've seen in person are ArmoryShop and Luna Armor Works. I have a Luna helmet and it's great. You can also 3D print on if you're up for the challenge. Both created their own helmets from scratch. ArmoryShop is a little narrow but will still pass CRL. I have a full Armory Shop PT and as good as it looks in photos, I can say that the material is very brittle & the paint cracks just thinking about it. The helmet is absolutely stunning though (please ignore the 2 chipped fins, it got chipped in transit). I am almost in the same boat as you are, as I now need to rebuild 99% of the kit, and have found that WTF (Walt's Trooper Factory) does a PT kit as well. Since Walt's TKs are well known, and his availability of product is good & he is always quick to answer any questions, I'll be going with one of his PTs. He does much of his contact through FB and the WTF FB group. I also have @MrPoopie's files, and they are extremely well thought out & organized. I think using a combo of the printed file parts & the WTF kit you could have a very robust and easy to live with/comfortable PT when finished. 2 1 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Ruthar Posted December 22, 2023 Share Posted December 22, 2023 I can sit ok in mine - the bigger issue is sight for me. The helmet (mine is Armory Shop) is large enough where it hits my collar, so I put padding in it so it sits higher which forces me to look out of the eyes. I would love to get my hands on (or try to print) a smaller helmet so that I don't have to do that, it definitely makes moving around a bit harder than it needs to be. I also have a fairly large nose so the tip of my nose rests against the inside face of the helmet. It's not uncomfortable but it does happen.
