Hello, I have been continuing to work on my armor but I am having some trouble making the boots. I am following the pinned guide. I am having trouble getting the toe to stay smooth. Here is what my latest attempt with a normal width strap:

And with a double width strap:

I used a hairdryer for heating. Any advice for how to get is smoother? Any way to fix it or any advice for retracing? I already have the legs of the boots cut out and sewn and I have a decent amount of vinyl left. I'm not going for Lancer right now and I just want to get it good enough for basic approval.

Heat is the only advice. You need to heat it like crazy and use like 30 pins. It looks like you only used 5. Heat, pull, pin. And repeat till its smooth

I used about that many pins. Could the hairdryer just not be hot enough? it's just the cheap one that was on hand. I do have a heat gun if that would work better.

Thats possible. You need the vinyl to be super malleable, so the hotter the better.

That'll work but you have to go easy or you'll melt the vinyl.
Oh yeah definitely. Keep a "feel" on it. You will know when its good. Take your time, pull and tack. Pull and tack. I had to readjust several times but its worth it
