TheDapperLlama
Hello, I am currently working on my first suit a ROTJ scout trooper. I am trying to DIY as much as possible. I have already 3d printed the armor and helmet and am working on the paint. I have ordered gloves and have white and black velcro as well as access to a sewing machine. Looking at the soft goods I am unsure at how much fabric I should get. I dont have any stores nearby that sell fabric so I have to order everthing online. I know that for the boots I need one yard of vinyl. Could anyone who has made their own soft goods help me figure out how much of what to order? Worst
I've been following @Aradun 's build thread here:https://r.tapatalk.com/shareLink/topic?url=http://forum.501stpathfinders.com/topic/21137-dennis-scout-wip-lancer/&share_tid=21137&share_fid=2091901&share_type=t&link_source=appHe's pretty thorough in documenting exactly what he purchased on the main post. While I'm nowhere near complete in my build, and because of how JoAnn's online ordering works, I ended up ordering 2 yards for most of the fabrics and it's been more than enough. I'm also not so confident with sewing so having extra doesn't hurt.Sent from my Pixel 6 using Tapatalk
Aradun
Hey Max! Welcome to the Pathfinders! The direct link to my build thread is Not sure if the one Bill provided would work if you don’t have the Tapatalk app. Everything I purchased is linked directly to the sites and I try to keep the links updated as various sites change or products become no longer available. If you have any specific questions hit me up. You also mention that you’re 3D printing your armor. I would recommend starting a build thread so that you can post pictures of the pieces as you build them. Some armor files out there aren’t accurate and need some modifications after printing if your goal is 501st approval. The armory team can help get you sorted as you work on your build. Here’s the link to start a build thread. http://forum.501stpathfinders.com/index.php?/forum/96-biker-scout-wip/ Let us know if you have any questions. We’re happy to help! Thanks Dennis Edit: Double checked and it does seem to redirect properly without the app, it just doesn't embed the preview. TheDapperLlama
About print accuracy I used files done by Christhepropguy on etsy his description he says that his files are based on vac formed kits. Has any one else done his files, are they known to be accurate? I will post a build thread after i'm done with the first vinyling of the boots. Aradun
Chris works with the detachment to maintain CRL standards, so you should be fine, but it’s still a good idea to post photos of your armor as you print it. Sometimes the size may needed to be scaled up or down a bit to better fit your physique and the armorers can guide you in that regard if needed.
