Film Accurate wearing of ROTJ armor parts

Hello, I've had a few discussions about the Biker Scout CRL photos in the last time.
It is about wearing arm armor correctly.
I have now researched for a very long time and the Photos on the CRL does not correspond to the correct fit of the parts as can be seen in the film.
The upper and lower arm armor is usually worn overlapping and dont cover the Gloves in ROTJ.
How important is the correct fit of the parts if you want to have an accurate costume and 501st approval ?

Best regards

What you're seeing in the CRL is an idealized positioning. Many troopers also use velcro to hold their bicep and knee armor in place.

That said, the bicep armor on the screen used costumes was not attached to the flight suit, so what you're also seeing in the film photos are the armor parts shifting around as the actors move. If you look at the background scouts on the Death Star, when the Emperor arrives, their biceps are higher up.

I would consult with your GML if you prefer to wear your biceps lower down, near the forearm armor.

I see some in the Death Star wearing them same way like the Guys on the forest Moon.
I think there a two ways to wear them maybe an interesting part for an CRL upgrade ... so there are no further discussions with GML.
but the most Scouts in the Movie are wearing them overlapping specialy on Endor there are only a small part of scouts in the  Death Star wearing them higher up.

I also see some in that shot wearing them not overlapping. However If GMLs are rejecting because of overlapping then its the GML that needs to have a word with themselves.

As mentioned above, what we prefer is the idealized positioning. This same argument could be said about the first stormtroopers we see in ANH. If you see the Blu-ray version, you'll see that the first couple have white duct tape on their chests. That's not part of the CRL simply because that's not how it's *supposed* to be. Same goes for the arm armour on a scout.

I appreciate your interest in being "screen accurate" but there's only so far we go. Also, have you tried wearing your armour like that? It's not really that comfortable. ;)

if the whole thing is idealized, why are only the few 5% used that can be seen in the film and not the majority? a while ago there were also updates on the subject of collars and neckseals, which can be seen at not much less. There is nothing else to write an upgrade for wearing the arm armor. Which one sees much more often on screen. It would be an upgrade that would make approval even easier and end unnecessary discussions with the GML as there are far too many references to this. 😉

I understand your concerns, Sebastian. As far as I know, there haven't been issues with this in the past, and I'm thinking back to when I was first here in 2009. Also, having been a GML myself I haven't heard from other GML's that this was a major concern.

On the main 501st forums, there are detachment and costume specific topics where GML's can post any concerns regarding costumes. If you're hearing that someone's experiencing issues, they can request that their GML post in these forums for clarification from us, the detachment staff.

That was taken possibly before or just after filming as here is the actual line up.9aaa0a30b09a094a37c46ac09e78d10c.jpg

Okay but in filming scenes are not many parts from Scouts to see at Death Star   😉

Thats not much the most more seen Scouts are at Endor. And 95% oft them are wearing overlapping.

So I think it will be a good Update for CRL to accept the overlapping variant too.

I dont agree it would be a good update as what you point out are dressing issues. However as said before if you wish to wear them that way there is a section on the main forum GMLs can ask questions for things like this.

One -- there are way more scouts in the Death Star Parade.  Twenty four I beileve.  That's more than you ever see on Endor.

Two -- the scouts in the Death Star Parade are -- on parade!  That means they are looking their absolute best for inspection.  Hence... the idealized version of the outfit

Three -- On Endor the scouts are running around and doing stunts -- thus the costume pieces are slipping up and down their arms.  Happens all the time on troops.  No big deal

Four -- There is nothing in the CRL either allowing or disallowing you to overlap your bicep and forearm pieces.  I do it all the time on troops.  Comes to personal preference.

Five -- We are not putting in an allowance for every possible configuration of the armors in our CRLs.  They would become unreadable walls of text.  If someone in your Garrison is giving you problems about how you wear your armor, point them to me.

That's about all there is to say on the topic.
