Balaclava shape

Recommended Posts

Hellooo

I’m slowly buying the soft parts for my scout and had a question about the balaclava.

Does it have to pull up and cover the mouth and nose or can there be a full face hole in it so that it covers the chin and that’s about it.

I think this scene in the pic I’ve attached is the only time we see “under” the scout trooper helmet even tho he’s not an imperial, but he seems to have his whole face showing which is how I would like to have mine.

I’ve had a look at the CRL balaclava and that one does cover the mouth/nose.

I’m assuming it’s down to personal preference… unless there is a definite balaclava design and the CRL design is the exact one we need.

There’s really on one style of balaclava. You can pull it up over your chin, over your mouth or nose, or wear it under your chin. How you wear it when you troop is up to you. I generally wear it over my chin just below my lip.

When you submit for your approval photos, you’ll want to make sure it covers at least your chin. Depending on your GML he may flag your submission if the chin is exposed.

Keep in mind too that little one’s looking up at you will see any exposed skin if you go without a balaclava or have it pulled beneath your chin, which depending on their age may ruin the magic.

You don't want to wear it over your nose or mouth.  It will make your lens fog up.  Wear it like our rebel captive does in that screen grab.

Ok great haha yeah I wasn’t very keen on suffocating on future troupes, I’ll wear it covering my chin. Cheers for the info

And yeah we don’t want the little ones realising we’re actually only from a planet not very far away at all.

Are there any balaclavas that you guys recommend? I am in Aus and would prefer to shop here but if need be I’ll buy internationally online since I’ve already bought Wampawears gloves. I know there was a guy you tend to tag when someone from Australia is asking about finding bits and bobs but I can’t remember his username sorry!

Under Armour Unisex-Adult HeatGear Tactical Balaclava

This one does a nice job wicking sweat and keeping you cool.

Another vote for the UA one. Had a cheap $5 Amazon one. Fit poor, felt poor, breathed poor. Just spend the extra $20, worth it.

Sadly I can’t seem to find this one on Australia’s under armour site, seems to only be available in America. And shipping was going to cost more than the balaclava itself

I’ll have to do some more digging to see if there’s any similar Aussie ones out there

Hey mate

I’m in Melbs. I’ve got a couple of the UA balaclavas. Generally we just wait until they’re on sale via Amazon, or if you’ve got a Prime account, look for the free or cheaper shipping. Sometimes you’ll find them via Catch too.

Hey Tarok
Sweet cheers mate, I’ll check out Catch. They seem to be sold out at the moment on Amazon but I’ve found one on EBay haha. I haven’t checked Catch yet, I’ll do that today, might be cheaper hopefully…
Cheers again

I should add that when I do order, I usually do it with a couple of mates. find out if any of your garrison mates are planning to order…

Also, is this the last piece of the costume? If not, you’ve got heaps of time…. Else just buy a cheapie and replace it when you get trooping. Things like balaclavas (and undersuits for TKs) tend to be “consumable”

Haha actually that’s not a half bad idea, might message the Perth garrison then. Didn’t even think of that, thanks!

And nah it’s not the last piece of the puzzle, I’m just super eager to buy everything I need now because I’m just excited but yeah I actually did just buy a cheapie from Catch for $13 haha

And yeah they probably are a bit of a “consumable” I’ll flick my garrison a message and see if I’m in luck

Someone posted that we should wear it like the captured Rebel in the screen grab.  Does that mean I have to grow a goatee?  I do not look good in a goatee.

Also, I have a Schampa-brand balaclava in my pile of disused motorcycle gear.  I assume that would be fine, as long as the logo is hidden?

No, you do not have to wear it like the captured rebel. As long as no logos are visible, then you should be fine.

You can wear it over your nose if you want your lens to fog up.  Otherwise, pull it down to your chin :)
