501st approved chest/back/tank 3d files

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone, I've been on the hunt for a while to get some 501st approved files for 3d printing. I made the whole set from files I purchased and they look wonderful, but I'd like to get a more movie accurate chest/back/tank. Everything else I've made (save for maybe biceps) appears to be good to go, even my chest is probably passable but I'd really like to get as close as possible to the films.

Best set out there is the one by @MrPoopie

Thing is -- you're never going to get that wonky, imperfect, asymmetric look of the film armor with 3D printing.  That's something only the imperfections of vacuum-pulled ABS plastic will give you.

Exactly what @BikerScout007said. The most accurate (with imperfections) will be a good set of ABS armor that was hand molded, hand molding even when done properly will always be a little asymmetrical. 3D prints however will give you a very accurate clean look which also has the added benefit of being sizable to fit each user just right.

Hey the best is what I'm looking for outside of vacuum-formed! I know nothing will beat going that route, but I might as well make use of the printers I have. Pretty much every set I've seen for printing has some elements that are good and some that are lacking, all of the chest plates I've come across don't have any beveling on the edges or just seem oddly shaped.

Oh I definitely agree that nothing beats the molds. But being a little short for a stormtrooper (thanks Leia) makes the 3d printing a good option for me to get a more scaled armor and the ability to make some things in the event something breaks.
