We have no information from the films regarding what the tank bars mean in terms of rank. There may be additional descriptions in the expanded universe or games, but as far as Return of the Jedi or The Mandalorian goes, we don't have any specifics.

We can presume that the 4 bar scout who captures Leia was an officer, as the other trooper refers to him as "sir", but that's about all we know.

And we just call them rank bars.  Nobody knows what they are supposed to be.  I always felt like they were just meant to be vents.
