smido Posted December 1, 2022 Posted December 1, 2022 Hi all, One of the last pieces that I needed came in last week, the boots. My heart sank as I took them out of the box as they are too tall. Before I contact the vendor about trying to get this fixed, I was hoping to get confirmation from the group that the boots will not be acceptable as is for approval as there is no gap between the boot and knee armor. I know the measurements I provided are correct, as I have several other pairs from the maker. Thanks for your help. Cheers, -Doug
Chopper Posted December 1, 2022 Posted December 1, 2022 I can tell you that they are definitely too tall for Level 2/Lancer, if that matters to you. I do think they're likely too tall for basic clearance as well, but I would consult with the Central Garrison GML to get their opinion, since it's ultimately their call.
smido Posted December 1, 2022 Author Posted December 1, 2022 Thanks Corey, that is what I was afraid of. I appreciate the response
Tarok Posted December 1, 2022 Posted December 1, 2022 Out of curiosity, who’s the manufacturer?Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
smido Posted December 2, 2022 Author Posted December 2, 2022 Crow Props. It's unfortunate because they are beautifully made and fit great. They are just too long. I will message him tonight and see what he says. By the way, Corey is there a more specific measurement to how far below the knee they need to be, as I do want to try and go for Level 2/Lancer. Cheers, -Doug 1
Chopper Posted December 2, 2022 Posted December 2, 2022 There is no specific measurement, but the knee armor shouldn't be sitting on top of, or inside the boots shafts. I'd say your boots need to go to about here.
smido Posted December 12, 2022 Author Posted December 12, 2022 Hi all, I heard back from Gio, and he wants me to send pictures with a ruler to show the measurements for the boots. It looks like they are 45.5 cm high, and when I am wearing them they compress to about 44cm. Taking that into consideration, it seems that they need to be cut down to 37-38cm, so that they are around 36cm when wearing them. Again, I appreciate all of your input on this! I am working on getting a picture posted.
smido Posted December 12, 2022 Author Posted December 12, 2022 Sorry about the picture size. It won't let me upload any more pictures. Is there a total amount that you can upload per thread?
Chopper Posted December 12, 2022 Posted December 12, 2022 This forum does not have unlimited image storage capacity. You'll need to host images externally. See this thread: http://forum.501stpathfinders.com/index.php?/topic/23053-faq-how-do-i-post-images/#comment-216514
smido Posted December 13, 2022 Author Posted December 13, 2022 OK, I think I got it sorted. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1zl4nugF_-54kZCycLy0h3lkmptnIj1qb/view?usp=sharing
Chopper Posted December 13, 2022 Posted December 13, 2022 Based on your photo, I would say that the shaft of your boot should be around 14 to 14.5" inches.
smido Posted December 13, 2022 Author Posted December 13, 2022 Thank you for your help! I'll let you know what he says.
Digger Posted December 15, 2022 Posted December 15, 2022 They do look nice though. Do you think it could be possible to adjust the length yourself? the stitching on the backside would be the biggest problem i think
