Where to buy soft parts?

Recommended Posts

I am looking to buy the soft parts of a scout trooper.

Where can I buy these?

Its easier for me to purchase the actual parts than make it myself because I am not sure about the fabrics to use and I can't sew to save my life.

I am also in Australia. Getting the flight suit by its self would be a big hassle and it would be better to get it already made.

Thank you

@M.J might have some suggestions for local vendors who are making soft parts.

Most of the other options will involve overseas shipping. Chef's Creations in the UK makes tailored soft goods, as does KriptonTop on Etsy. KriptonTop is in S. America, so it's best to select FedEx shipping.

There's also Steph's Imperial Outfitters on Facebook and xChris909x on these forums. Both Steph and Chris are US based.

I would also recommend talking to MJ about fabrics you can use to make your own in case the vendor option doesn’t work out. Most of us had no sewing or tailoring experience prior to undertaking this hobby. There are great tutorials, templates, measurements, etc. available on the forum. As one of those who never touched a sewing machine before taking on my own scout build, I can tell you the learning curve isn’t all that bad. If you decide to make your own we’re here to help!

HI ya Tania its me Kelly. (the lass that has your jacket)

Creating a jumpsuit isn't for the faint hearted not something I would want to tackle either though  there is some easier options, I've got a two piece under suit using black cargo pants and black long sleeve business short. Trick is getting them the same shade as black and unpicking any out standing add ons.

I've made quite a few cummberbuns here in Victoria, I don't do interstate as I need to personal fitting, and stress they wont fit.  You've got spotlight yeah... fabrics you can get from there easy.

If you know anyone that has a sewing machine I can help them or yourself through it. The soft parts are really quite easy, I've got all the patterns, also for the boots from Izzy in Tassie, those boot patterns have been given out around Australia. I'm here and talk you through it.  I have faith in you!

There are a number of pathfinders in your neck of the woods. Best start is look at their soft parts, check out their cummberbuns, mines a two piece updated a fews back.

There will be one soft part you'll have to purchase, the gloves. Keep an eye out for those, they wont be cheap.

Dewbacks reading this, next troop remember to show Vixon your scout while not kitted up... I was going to say that a different way but yeah.

Thank you. I will contact MJ for advice. I have already contacted chris but he hasn't been on the forums.

I had a bad experience with kriptontop, so i won't be coming back.

Steph doesn't do flight suits I think.

Has anyone purchased from KriptonTop and been approved?  I checked with my garrison and they suggested to ask on here.
thanks

Yes, many scouts have been approved using the cod, bund, vest, and coveralls from KriptonTop. As long as the sizing and fit is good, you should have no issues.
