Pouches To scale up or not?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have all the materials needed now to complete my scout, however a few anomolies are present and I thought I'd check before making everything.

My bund needs to be 10" wide to allow for some material to tuck under the back and front armour and still cover my expanded belly!

This is obviously slightly over size from what the measurement suggestions are on most builds nowadays.

This leaves a slightly larger expanse (approx 8 1/2") of bund between belt and chest armour.

In the spirit of looking 'right', would it be prudent to scale the pouch sizes up slightly?

The pouches are not going to sit on or near the belt by the time the tabs sit slightly under the armour etc.

Appreciate your thoughts.

Scaling the pouches to the wearer's size used to be more common about 5+ years ago, but we've encouraged people to stop doing so. It's not a requirement for Level 1/ Basic clearance, but it is for Level 2/Lancer.

We've found that the 6x5x2 pouches don't generally need to be scaled and, with a 8.5" bund, shouldn't need to be.

Also, lacking a photo, you might want to check your belt position in relation to your chest armor. Many tend to position their belts too low initially, which can contribute to the issue. Ideally it should sit just below your navel.

If you ever decide to go for L2, the pouches need to be the standard size.
