EC-17 Holdout Blaster Posted June 1, 2022 Posted June 1, 2022 Hi, so while putting the final few pieces of my scout together, I have had some trouble with the belt, I was wondering, after putting in the rivet by itself, could I just put velcro on the inside of the belt to connect my webbing back piece to, because every time I want to put my rivet in, it rips my material and ends up falling out, I just want to put the rivet in by itself, and then Velcro on the inside, holding up the appearance that there is a rivet, but really making much more adjustable, is this acceptable to the CRL or not? Thanks

Thanks As long as it looks correct from the outside, we don't care what happens on the inside of your belt. You need the rivet and it needs to appear that's how the nylon belt in the back is held to the plastic. Just curious what kind of material you are using? Nylon is pretty tough stuff. So is polypro. Have you tried using a lighter to heat the hole in the fabric and keep it from fraying? Also are you using a rivet washer?
EC-17 Holdout Blaster Posted June 1, 2022 Author Posted June 1, 2022 Im not quite sure of the material, but it is the set from studio creations, so the material for the belt that came with that is what I am using, now that I think of it, I might just retry again, this time with using a lighter or something, thanks that its a good idea. 1
Chopper Posted June 1, 2022 Posted June 1, 2022 The 2" webbing you get with the SC kit is synthetic, so if you sear the edges of the hole with a lighter or match, then you should be in good shape. 1
kayelbe Posted June 1, 2022 Posted June 1, 2022 A soldering iron, with a smallish tip is the best at popping holes in nylon and even elastic, in my experience. 2
