TooTallTrooper70211
Hello everyone! My name is Kevin and I am currently living in Washington. I have always wanted to have my own set of ROTJ Biker Scout armor and join the 501st for many, many years now. I am finally taking the leap and making that dream a reality. I am in the process of gathering all my armor and soft parts that I need to have a complete set. My goal with this build was to get items that would eventually help me achieve my dream of not only being in the 501st, but reaching Lancer status. After countless hours spent scouring these forums, the internet, and bugging many of you, I have finally reached a solid plan to obtain my dream. Before I list off my build, I want to give a special shout out to Chopper, Spike, BikerScout007, Jakeputt, Wendy, Gary, and anyone else who has taken the time to help me; It is truly appreciated and thank you from the bottom of my heart. I apologize if I missed anyone. For reference also, I am 6'5'', 230 lbs, and I have a 24-24 1/2 inch head. Without further ado, here is my build so far! Aradun
Kevin, welcome brother! You are off to a solid start, which shows how a little advanced recon goes a long way! We’ll done! I’m excited to see your build progress once everything is in hand. For your balaclava, the Underarmor logo shouldn’t be an issue. I have the same one and the logo is covered by your Mandarin collar on the flight suit. I think you’ll be fine.

TooTallTrooper70211
Dennis, Thank you, I really appreciate that and it is good to know I am on the right path as well! Okay, awesome! I was worried when I saw the logo, but I am glad that it will be fine. It seems like it's a pretty breathable and comfortable balaclava. Also, I love the city (Philadelphia). I have family from there Thanks again! -Kevin

Kashew
Hi Kevin! Where in WA are you? Hailing from Bellingham myself and 6'2" so happy to compare any notes on taller sizing! 👋 Cheers! Frank
TooTallTrooper70211
Frank, I am in seattle actually so not too far from you. But yeah, that would be awesome. It would be great to bounce ideas and sizing off each other; thanks! I was curious how you liked your KriptonTop soft parts and how long it took you to get them in? I also used them for my soft parts. Also, who did your blaster? Thanks again and nice to meet you!-Kevin Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Kashew
Hi Kevin! I was actually very impressed with Cristian's (Kripton) work and communication, everything was tailored really well I thought. It took about 2 months from ordering to receiving (last spring). This is the blaster I went with - it shipped in about a month and then just pretty quick to assemble + paint, pretty happy with it. Nice to meet you and have fun on your build! -Frank

TooTallTrooper70211
Hello everyone! Another update for you. Helmet Pads: So I spent yesterday messing around with my helmet a bit. I finally was able to get some padding in that I ordered on amazon. The pads said they were memory foam, but they feel stiff still, so not sure whats going on with that. These pads are very similar to the ones you would find inside a kevlar helmet (for those of you who were in the military- you will know exactly what I mean). The pad kit came with the pads and the velcro with sticky backing, so you could place it where you want inside the helmet. I found the adhesive on the velcro was a little difficult to separate from the paper backing though, so just be aware of that if you get the same kit. So I found that the large circle pad that is supposed to go on the top of the helmet, was too thick and that when I put the helmet on, it sat too high on my head. So what I actually ended up using was a very thin foam, that I got out of my die cast Funko Pop surprisingly; it actually was the perfect fix since it was just enough to where my head did not sit against the plastic and it cause me to be uncomfortable (I am glad I actually kept the foam! haha). Here is a link to the padding that I got off amazon, incase anyone reading this is interested. I will also include the photos of the pads, with some measurements in inches (in a separate post) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08PG4YM94?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1 3M Bolts: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002BUMS8Y?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details So I went ahead and ordered these 3M style bolts off of amazon, to replace the stock ones that came on my Altmann's helmet. I went ahead and did this because I am hoping to obtain level 2 certification in the future. I chose these bolts thanks to Chopper's recommendation (I really appreciate it!). They were pretty easy to replace and I did not have any issue for the most part. The only thing I ran into was that I could not use a washer on one of the sides, since it would not fit. I will include photos of the bolts in a separate post. PHOTOS: So I went ahead and took photos of me wearing my helmet before I changed out the bolts on the side. I took several different angle photos. I took photos of the inside of the 3M bolts, as well as photos on the outside, incase anyone was curious how it looked. The photos of the pads you will see how they look and some of the measurements as well (hopefully it helps). (The photos will be in the post below, because it will not let me upload them via the web- It will however let me upload them directly from my phone). If anyone has any input or questions in general or needs some help, please do not hesitate to ask me; I will do my best to answer them. Thank you so much! TooTallTrooper70211
So I did not end up using this circle pad like I mentioned above, due to it being too thick. I just wanted to post photos incase anyone wanted to know what it’s like, incase they are debating buying some. kayelbe
Your right side bolt needs to go in more. In should more or less be flush. The other side looks good though.
TooTallTrooper70211
Kayelbe,Yeah that was the old bolts, it’s was starting to come out and I didn’t realize it when I took the photos. I replaced the bolts with the 3M ones though (in the last set of photos of the helmet) and it’s flush now. Thanks!
