Hey all, I've been working on my scout and I'm getting fairly close to finishing things up. One of the last things I need to purchase are the boots. For my first set of armor I made a pair of boots, but they are no where near the level to reach lancer and I just don't have the sewing skills to do so. Are the IB boots approvable for lancer or does anyone sell lancer level boots? Much help appreciated

Issues with imperial Boots and Level 2/Lancer are detailed here: http://forum.501stpathfinders.com/index.php?/topic/21881-rotj-scout-armor-kit-accuracy-and-level-2-lancer-applications/

"Boots - "Biker OT" boot dogbone is improperly shaped, horizontal stitch mark on velcro tab needs to be concealed "

If you do not want to try at making your own, I recommend you check with @Chrisx909x in California, or Chef's Creations in the UK. Note that nothing is Lancer/Level 2 "out of the box". You can have "Lancer" made boots that are too short, or too wide etc -- in the end it's also about how it fits on you.

I am currently finishing up a second pair of boots after my first pair of IB boots wasn't up to snuff. I'm also writing up a short review showing the side by side comparisons. Hoping to post that up in about a week.

I'll say here that the IB boots seem accurate by themselves in a vacuum, but once you compare them side by side to the screen used ones, the little details start to come out. It's a shame because they are really well made!

Much appreciated to both of you that gives me something to think about. I may just have to try again at making a pair instead of trying to take the easy way out haha

What happened to that maker that was casting accurate soled boots? Did they shut down?

Imperial Boots and Crowprops both do the accurate soles.  It's the rest of the boot that may need some work to bring it to Lancer spec.

There are some reviews of the full Crowprops boots here: http://forum.501stpathfinders.com/index.php?/topic/21923-crow-props-scout-boots-and-gloves-my-take/

and here: http://forum.501stpathfinders.com/index.php?/topic/21900-crow-props-biker-boots-and-gloves-are-in/

I'd consider Gio's underboot only offering to be quite good, but the original poster had indicated that he didn't want to build his own.

Hey thanks again Chopper, you're always great help. I was looking at the crowprops base boots for awhile and my one concern is the little rubber trim above the sole before it meets with the toe. Is that trim thick enough to show through vinyl and get that ugly uneven toe strip? I just don't like how the toe strip turned out on his already assembled boots.

Those look great, I'll probably end up going that route for my boots as well

Thanks Chopper.

Yeah I don't know how CrowProps assembles the toe strip but it looks too flat/bubbly looking. It's very unlike the screen used one/CRL photos. When I made mine, I literally just glued a strip without any special treatment and to me looks much better!
