TK8846
Hi everyone, looking for some clarity on the IB scout flight suit. I recently purchased this however I'm a little confused about the neck area of the suit. There is a tiny flap that velcros together however I was supplied with what looks like a ribbed neck seal that just wraps around the neck and sits over the neck area. I have seen this ribbed neck seal on some of the biker scouts from reference pictures however the CRL mentions a Mandarin style collar closure flap. Would this ribbed neck seal collar/strap provided by IB also be acceptable for approval? Appreciate your guidance here.

I supposed if you are doing a JFO Scout you can use it. The neck seal is not part of the ROTJ Biker Scout CRL because the neck seals cannot be seen from the outside. They were worn, but UNDER the flight suit. We don't make requirements on things that can't be seen from the outside.
TK8846
Ok makes sense. I'm building a ROTJ Biker so slightly disappointed as I wasn't expecting to now have to create a collar flap. I was expecting to have a completed (and basic approval ready as advertised) flight suit. Appreciate the help with getting this cleared up.

Appreciate the help with getting this cleared up. It's not too hard with some basic sewing skills. Most of us use coveralls so we cut off a spare pocket to make the flap. I hope this helps: http://forum.501stpathfinders.com/index.php?/topic/19259-undersuit-mods/ 1
woobiee
I'm surprised your IB flight suit not come with a collar! My IB suit from 2020 has one and for me it passed Basic and I'm confident it will pass Lancer as well. Can you post an image? Vince also threw in a ribbed neck seal that I'm not using. woobiee
Hmm I think that's what I have. Here is me in full kit: Part of what helps neck concealment is the balaclava which is mandatory according to the CRL.
TK8846
Yes I have a balaclava as well. If the collar that I mention above is approvable for basic that's all I'm looking for.

If your GML gives you a hard time, you can always add a longer flap. 2
