Cummerbund/Cod Material?

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone, I've noticed that the Lancer spec for the bund/cod material is given as polished or mercerized cotton.  IIRC, when I made Lancer that wasn't a requirement, but the consensus was the material was smooth and shiny (ie not canvas).  I went with taffeta, which many had supposed to be the screen-used fabric.

Would my taffeta soft goods pass Lancer specs today?  I stopped by JoAnn's the other day looking for polished cotton and was shown "Sateen" cotton.  To me it just looks like a really tight weaved cotton, like a bedsheet.

If Sateen is out, where are y'all getting "polished cotton" at?

Sateen should work.  If it's a smooth white cotton with no pattern on it (like the way twill has a diagonal pattern for instance) then you should be good.

Here’s the Sateen from Joann Fabrics that I used for my Lancer app.

Yep that’s the same fabric they showed me.  Thanks!

I went ahead and grabbed that sateen.  I'll be back around soon--gotta get re-approved out of retirement and all.  Really hoping to get back in time for the Fiesta Bowl parade!
