Hey y’all! Starting a clean WIP here on my ROTJ scout. I had originally planned to print one, then decided to go with remnant. I have made a clear decision now 😂 I’m sticking with ROTJ.

Armor from Studio Creations was ordered this afternoon! I also placed an order for my soft parts with @Chrisx909x looking forward to both of those orders to come in. I’ll be sourcing my gloves through Wampa Wear.

I’m looking forward to building a scout trooper, as well as having y’all along for the ride to help and encourage!! Lead the way!

Received the armor from Studio Creations today! I have one question/concern. The helmet has a rough texture to it unlike the rest of the armor. Has anyone ever experienced this?

Been there and done that Mike.  I put a 501st Pathfinder vinyl decal on the back window of my SUV and forgot to remove the protective film once applied.  At least you caught your faux pas right away.  I drove around for over a month before the protective film began to peel away on its own due to weathering, at which point I realized that it was in fact protective film and that it was supposed to be removed.  Live and learn. 😉

If you aren’t learning you’re not living!

I am making good progress on my helmet!

I am considering weathering my armor when it is all finished, would it be wise for me to paint everything white first then weather or just leave the armor as is then weather?

There's no need to paint the armor white before weathering and it's not common for most ROTJ builds.

When it comes time for weathering, after assembly, most folks just use a bit of rattlecan misting from a ways back.

Here's a video from Strider on the process he used:

Awesome thank you for that information. I know with my clone trooper I had to paint everything and then weather. Glad I can just weather this time!

There's still a little bit more you can trim along the top.  You want to get that curve along the top to run along that ridge.  Yours looks a little straight on the left side.  Round out those upper corners too.

If you're using the vinyl vacuum tubing, it can be a little tricky to bond HDPE to ABS, but you should be able to use either E6000 or crazy glue.

Some folks glue a bit of properly sized PVC pipe to the inside of the caps, which you can then insert into the tubing. This gives a bit more surface area for a glue bond.

Small progress update!! I’m getting all the elastic pieces attached to the armor while waiting for soft goods!

Big update!! After work today, I pushed through to finish all the parts that were remaining. I sewed the webbing on the belt, pinstriped the tank and attached it to the back armor. Hoping to post first suit up pictures Friday if I get my soft parts by then. I’m excited to become a scout trooper!!!
