Hey all.  
 

SC armor kit is officially on its way.  I picked up some materials for the boot covers, cummerbund, and pouches.  Holdout blaster and Coveralls are on their way as well.  
 

I’m starting this thread because the first piece is physically in hand.  Wampa Wear gloves came in this week.  I can see already though, I’m going to have to remove the liners.  Those things are toasty and I live on a sub-tropical island. 🤣

I‘ll post more updates as I go, and I am sure tons of questions.

Base boots and suede came in today.  For the base boot I went with the Kingshow.  For the "teeth" cut out of the sole, is there a certain template? Or is it just get the pattern it as close as you can?

Just try and get the pattern as close as you can. A lot of folks sketch it out in pencil beforehand, so feel free to give us a look before you start cutting.

Hold-out blaster came in today from Luna Armor Works on Etsy.  Getting really excited.

BBB day!   Jumpsuit came in also.  Hopefully going to be a busy weekend. 
 

1st question. The jump suit has pockets in the front.  Like pants pockets.  
 

do I need to alter them?   Already removing the back pockets.

You're talking about the slash pockets at the front waist?

Sometimes the white from the pocket lining shows, so I just stitched the opening closed. You can't see them once your gear is worn over it.

Did a test fit of the armor, i can already see that velcro patches to hold plates in place are a no brainer.  Also started on the boot covers.  If i can figure out how to chance the size of photo files, i will upload some pictures.  🤣

Gus, the forum has very limited photo storage allotted to each member. I think it’s around 1000 KB so that gets eaten up real fast. The best thing to do is to either use an image hosting service like Imgur and post links to your photos or get the Tapatalk app for you phone, which allows you access the forum and post photos directly from the app. The app is free and has a pretty generous but limited number of photos you can post in a month. You can get a subscription for $1.00 per month with unlimited photo uploads but you’ll probably be fine with the free version.

Thanks for the photo advice.  I have the toe covers for the boots stretched and pinned.  Hopefully going to get that glued down this weekend and work on the "tubes".  Is there a template for the dogbone?  I saw somewhere that the mid section is about 5cm and the ends about 8cm.

There's no official template for the dogbone.  There may be some floating around that various bootmakers have made over the years.   

Just do your best to match the screen sources and you'll be fine!

You’ll just need to play with the print ratio, increasing or decreasing the print size until it gives you the fit you need.

Boot build status. Need to add the dog bone still. These will end up being a practice boot unfortunately. They were a little snug at 9.5 now they are almost impossible to get on. Ordered a 10. Oh well. Love and learn.

I’m sorry to hear that Lawrence but you’ve done a bang up job on them. Did you leave the laces in the boots? If so then you might get more room to get your tootsies in if you strip out the laces. I don’t use them in my boots.

If you do upsize your boots, you can easily sell those 9.5 boots to recoup some of your expenses. As Retrofire said, you did a bang up job on them. Great job!

Pulled the laces out.  It did give me a little more room.  Still ordered a 10.

I fit my boots at the store and they felt great.  I realized after I covered them in vinyl that I had actually made them smaller when I pulled the vinyl tight.  pulled my laces out too.  I find them a little hard to get into but once they are on they are good for the day.

Size 10s came in this week.  Now to start notching those souls. Lol.  
 

I need to get cracking on the other soft parts as well.  Taking a long weekend this week, so hopefully some updates, and I am sure questions.

Getting ready to cut out the ear holes. I was thinking of just using the stickers as the template. Would that be ok?

Yeah, it might be a tiny smidge high, but I'd say that general shape should work for doing the ear cuts. If you can peel and adjust it down very slightly, that would be better.
