Just got my BBB in the mail and cant wait to get started.

The kit came with all the hardware. Is it recommended to build the helmet with included hardware or use these bolts?

Do you just use the bolts? Or do you need a helmet suspension system?

The flat metal bolts from SC are fine for basic clearance, but if you want to go for Level 2, then you need to use the proper 3M style bolts depicted below.

Helmet lining is purely your preference and what fits you best. Padding, hardhat liner -- it's up to you.

Would yall recommend using ABS cement or an epoxy for the dome? Instructions mention both.

Will all purpose or PVC cement work?

And why is all ABS cement i see online black!!??

Either will work.

ABS paste, which you make yourself from any scrap trimmings + acetone will blend and bond better. That and you can also use it to close the gap between the back and the dome portions, but that's up to you.

Otherwise, you can use the Oatey ABS cement that's commonly sold in hardware stores. Devcon plastic weld epoxy works too.

Yes BUT....
I had issues with it. It left the ABS soft in places where it got trapped between the layers and really made a lot of work for me.  I think the Rust-oleum and or the bondo reacted it with it as well.   I ended up using J-B Weld Plastic Bonder to fill the seam and probably should have used that to glue the top and bottom together.  I can't speak on ABS paste as I have never made it.  I posted some of my issues in my WIP thread in the mandalorian section.

Yes, Jeff still sends a green lens with his helmets. It will need to be replaced, as the CRL states:

"Lens is black in color and obscures wearer's eyes."

Most of us use a welding shield such as this one:

You can cut several visors from it with scissors.

That's what I thought when I pulled out green yesterday.

Is this a welding shield or are those too dark?

helmet is coming along nicely.

Got my face shield fixed in place, respiratory attached to front and ears cut out.

The front flip up vizor is attached using the 3M bolts, However it doesnt seem to sit down and wants to pop up slightly. I see pic on the scoutopedia that show some velcro/ webbing on the side of helmet under the vizor/face flip.

Anyone else use velcro to keep the visor down and in place when trooping?

If you're referring to the photo below, what you're seeing is the way that the elastic for the chinstrap is threaded through the side portions of the helmet.

That said, a number of people have used those little circular velcro dots that you can get at the hardware store to help hold the faceplate closed. It doesn't take much velcro adhesion to keep it in place.

Yes that strap.

This is my gap. Will add a small Velcro to hold in place and avoid the gap.

Ok I do plan to do the chin strap to hold in place. The chin strap is options. However if present must it be threaded as in the picture above? or can i just attach to the inside?

What type of padding inside of helmet do y'all recommend?
