Rookie Build: Hokie 1

Hello All.  My name is Hilary and I live in Virginia Beach, VA.  After SWCO in 2017 I bought a kit (minus helmet) from SC Armor with the intention of building it but it sat in a box because life moved me in a different direction.  I ended up selling it to someone who wanted to make a Mando Scout.  So I have been reinvigorated to start over and with the motivation of some cool people in Garrison Tyranus here in my hometown I have set a goal to try and have my new SC kit built and ready for my first troop at AwesomeCon in August of this year.  I am trying to do it to Lancer specs but we shall see how that turns out.  I have spent a lot of time on the forums reading and looking at everyone's builds and will take bits and pieces from the great info here!  I appreciate the support you all have given and will continue to give as I progress through this build.

Helmet: Altmann’s (acquired)

Armor: SC (acquired)

Boots: Imperial Boots (acquired)

Flight Suit: Plan on Imperial Boots

Soft Goods: Steph’s Imperial Outfitters (acquired)

Gloves: Wampa Wear (acquired)

Blaster: Darth Voorhees rubber pistol (acquired)

Balaclava: Amazon (acquired)

Forearm Armor

I will add in additional Velcro to attach directly to flight suit once it arrives.

Lancer Spec: Armor is secured around the arm with a 25mm (1") black elastic strap.Forearm-Front.jpgForearm-Unstrapped.jpgForearm-Elastic-Size.jpgForearm-Unstrapped.jpg

I will add in additional Velcro to attach directly to flight suit once it arrives.

Lancer Spec:

  • Film-accurate "T-bit" detail is mounted to armor.

  • T-bit circle detail piece faces forward on each arm.

  • Armor is secured around the arm with a 50mm ( 2") black elastic strap.

Hi Hilary and welcome! You are in good company as I am also a rookie, working on my first kit! I noticed that you may be planning on an Imperial Boots flight suit. That is what I am running with but there is a chance that the suede they use for the thigh patch/butt flap may not be up to Lancer spec. Lancer requires real suede and I am having difficulty finding answers from IB if what they use is real or not. In the end, I got some real stuff and will attempt a material swap this weekend.

Thanks so much. Got great feedback on paint for the TD already in an earlier thread!

Been slowly making progress and just haven't uploaded photos.  TD is done. Thanks to all who provided feedback.

This is the HDX tube from home depot with the extension cord cable wrapped around it from home depot as well.  I used the clips that have been posted before from amazon.  Also borrowed the idea from PandaTrooper on creating a lip on the inside of the caps to better be able to glue them on. These are the updated end caps from SC with the indention in them.

Holster finished.  I have made the cuts and I hope they pass lancer status.  I replaced the aluminum portion of the DVH rubber blaster with some steel stock pieces to make it magnetic.  Took advantage of neodymium magnets to add extra security to the holster and hold in the blaster when walking.

How do the cuts look for lancer status?

The cuts look fine.

You might want to round off this corner a bit with a file or emory board.

Note also, that there are some issues with the Imperial Boots scout boots for Level 2/Lancer. Some modifications are needed.

See Dekard's post from 5 August in the following link: http://forum.501stpathfinders.com/index.php?/topic/22556-rotj-and-remnant-boot-differences/

Okay thanks. Based on what I'm seeing, I'd say leave the top edge alone and don't trim it.

Go ahead and trim the bottom edge the 1/2" you marked and you should be good.
