Inexpensive black visor material?

Hi all.   I was curious what you all use for your visor material in the ROTJ Scout helmet and if you've found some inexpensive material I could use to help keep costs down.  I've used Lexan as well as various films out there, but would LOVE to find a $3 visor kit in dark smoke instead of green like those goofy casino shade visors out there.

I read the amazon reviews once... there were about 2-3 people using it for a welding helmet and a bunch of people showing of their mandalorian, scout, and think even a tie pilot helmet.

Anyways I bought one for a mandalorian helmet I built out of EVA foam, worked great.

How stiff are these?  I have the dark green ones, which were recommended when I first started, and to get them to warp with a heat gun takes a good long while.  I was hoping for something pretty flexible off the bat.  I've been using these visors for some time, and they are great, but expensive all things considered.

That stuff on etsy looks really thin, like acetate film?

The hobart shield is pretty flexible -- you can bend it fairly easily with your hands and I've cut them using lexan scissors. It does take a bit to heat it enough to remain bent using a heat gun, but that's also b/c it's a welding shield, so it's sorta doing it job by not deforming too quickly.

Yeah.  The green ones are no joke.  I'll look into the black, and maybe try a 1/16 inch lexan sheet too.  Those worked great for the Inferno eyes that I've made, just hoped for something easier.  Appreciate the input.

 

Those sheets are really thin and floppy, but beautifully made, can have a he pattern printed on them, and will crease without flaking the reflective material off.  I use them for my Titanfall helmets to good effect.

The one I posted is big enough that -- if you space them out properly -- you can get about 3 Scout lenses out of it.

I've also gotten the Hobart shields for other kits. As far as flexibility goes, they're 4mm which is probably the thinnest you're gonna find for those things.
