I was wondering if you guys think it would be possible for me to remove my old holster and put it onto my new boots, or should I just get a replacement? Thanks! BikerScout007 Posted February 17, 2021 Share Posted February 17, 2021 I don't see why not. You can drill out the rivets (hopefully) and just move it over to your new boots. Chopper Posted February 17, 2021 Share Posted February 17, 2021 If you get can a 1/8" cobalt drill bit from the hardware store and you used aluminum rivets, then you should be able to drill out the holster without issue. Aradun Posted February 17, 2021 Share Posted February 17, 2021 Given that you’re scrapping the boots and getting a new pair, you could just cut the fabric around the rivet which will free the holster from the boot. The rivets should be loose and have some play in them at that point, so if you don’t have access to a cobalt bit or if they are steel rivets (they’re steel if a magnet sticks to them), then you can use a pair of wire snips to cut the back side of the rivets and that should allow you to push them through to the front. You may need a pair of needle nose pliers to squeeze the cut end so they slip through the hole in the holster. I’ve done it this way without issue because I was lazy and didn’t have access to a cobalt bit. Takes patience though. 1 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

If you're up to printing one there are files available. Depending on your kit maker most of them are helpful and can set you up with anew holster pretty easily. Some came out easier than others, I eventually cut around the holster to try an make it a bit easier. There aren't really pictures I took that can be of any good help, I just drilled the top of the rivet until they popped out. Like I said some came out easier, I had one that was a bit tricky. I made sure not to get it too hot and with some patience it came out after awhile. Just an FYI this kit was not mine. In the state I got it, it was clear it was older than it appeared and its condition was to say well worn. I have been trying to restore it but with all the money and work, not to mention replacements, I could have honestly just bought a new one but you live and learn. With that being said, its probably best I get a new holster. Not that I botched drilling out the rivets, but that this one is showing its age.
