Painting area behind snout detail on helmet

Hello, Troopers!

I have a SC kit and am looking for information on painting the black border areas on the snout area behind the cast resin piece.  I realize that the entire area doesn't necessarily need to be painted as the snout detail will cover most of it anyway and the bare plastic will be a better surface to glue the cast resin piece.  But, how far up the sides of the raised borders should the black paint go?  Of course this is for eventual Lancer approval, so if any of you Lancer TBs can post a pic of your helmet in that area, I'd be thankful.

These are some images of various Lucasfilm production scout helmets. How much is painted black can vary, depending on the helmet. Most will have the black going to the edge of the divot, or just over the edge.
