WillBrozInc Posted October 30, 2020 Posted October 30, 2020 Hey everyone! I just received my armor/bucket in the mail from KW designs/Imperial Surplus and I'm excited to start building! I've built a clone before so I have some knowledge of building armor, my main concern at the moment is the strapping. My clone came with all the straps I needed, and I'm not too sure what strapping would be best for a ST. I'm just going for standard approval as this is a side project to pass my time. There are a lot more small pieces to this than a clone, so I'm already feeling a bit overwhelmed, but I'm ready to push through it. I got my soft parts from Jim Tripon over on Facebook, I still just need to get my boots and the ammo pouches Be prepared for lots of questions, and for most of them to be real dumb haha 3
BikerScout007 Posted October 30, 2020 Posted October 30, 2020 Hey buddy! Surprisingly enough, the Shoretrooper is not especially strap-heavy. Some of us use a t-strap for the shoulder join/bell, and of course the belt is an area that needs to be tackled. But a lot of the gear just fits in place without much in the way of straps. Here is my build thread for my captain, to the extent it helps:
Michael_Davis26019 Posted October 31, 2020 Posted October 31, 2020 Looking forward to watching your progress! I’m an ST building a clone!
ScaryGuy Posted November 1, 2020 Posted November 1, 2020 Welcome Will, looking forward to your build! A note on the shirt though, the vertical ribs should be the same color and fabric as the horizontal ribs on the shirt. From the CRL: The neck seal bib has vertical ribbing and the bib is the same colour and material as the undershirt. The black ribs were allowed in the past, but this has been changed quite a while ago. Unfortunately not all vendors keep up with current standards.
MikeB Posted November 1, 2020 Posted November 1, 2020 Thank you for posting this build. It will help me understand the process as well as issues that pop up. Are you happy with the items you bought so far? I need to find a 501st approved armor supplier. Good luck with the project!
