Hello, it's me again!

Introduction:
For the amazing people out there, my name is Gertjan Kool. I'm from the Netherlands and I want to start another build from Star Wars Battlefront II. I have fallen in love with the shoretrooper armor. Specifically about some aspects of it that relate to real-life military parts, such as the ammo pouch, oiler pouch, shotgun shells, faulds, etc. (I love vintage items) Thus having respect for the people that is serving his/her country. That is what I could associate with this costume and those are my reasons behind it.

Also learning new skills such as photography, resin printing and sewing with the Specialist build made me want to continue building!

I have the majority of armor parts ready. This is the build to-do list. For me, this is something I always do, which is planning how much material, costs, and time is needed for that particular armor part.

1x Forearm with Shotgun shells (currently printing)
2x Shoulder Buckles (currently printing)
1x Shoulder Bell
2x Black ammo pouches (already bought and is currently shipping!) planning on treating it with leather preparer, black leather dye)
1x Chest
1x Back (back box greeblies currently printing)
1x Nylon brown belt
1x Black pringle can
1x Black TD
2x Shoulder straps
6x Belt Boxes

Things I noticed with this class are mainly that the belt boxes are painted black and that the belt design (captain, specialist, etc.) is different. I had a talk with Mickey about this and I'll also post it in the Heavy research folder regarding belt boxes placements.

I think it is logical to replace the hinged belt box with the large belt box as it makes both sides equally as they are hidden behind the ammo pouch. And seeing the captain and other classes has a large back box behind the ammo pouch as well. So to speak: double the ammo pouches, double the large boxes.

Question to @ScaryGuy Would it make sense to replace the hinged box with the large box (hinged box will not be visible)? If not, what box will be used on the left side behind the ammo pouch, instead?

I think that makes sense. Unless someone knows how to extract the model and look behind the pouch we don't know what type of box is behind it. If have no issue if another large box is used for the left side too.

Another thing to consider are the pouch straps. For the Specialist the straps are used like the movie version, but with two pouches this is not going to work very well if both have to cross and connect behind the hip plates. Maybe for the Heavy the straps should not be used and the pouches be mounted directly to the belt.

''The missing straps on the pouch and the back assembly plate is something we have been discussing within the armoury team.
We are putting this down to the artist or lack off artistry detail as it’s something that happens a lot with game characters''

This comment is from the Heavy thread. The missing straps is still under discussion whether it be something lack off artistry or intentional. I do have the same thoughts about mounting the ammo pouches directly to the belt itself.

I think it helps when you have the two pouches if you could do a mockup with the straps so we can see how it would look.

Here is my progress. First test fit for the newest parts. I still need to make adjustments in order to walk normally in the costume. I'll make updated pictures with the correct dressing up version.

Edit: I need to lift up my chest plate more now that I'm looking back at these pictures.

@ScaryGuy Does it look proper?

You already noticed the chest wasn’t worn correctly, so I will skip that 😉.

The brown strap on the can needs to be a bit higher, it’s not centered. You have it correctly on your Specialist. Also, does anyone have a reference picture of the top of the can? I wonder if the greeblie should be silver or not.

I don’t really like the look of the pouch straps crossing at the front. So I am leaning towards making an exception for this variant and not use the straps but connect the pouches directly to the belt (also a bit higher). @BikerScout007 what do you think?

According to Mickey, the assembly belt should be all black and the top greebly part should be black too not silver. The strap is not glued on properly (now that I have inspected it, so I will fix that too.

@ScaryGuy It's just bad dressing up. I fixed the cross section. I just need to adjust it by flipping the straps/folding it back in place. This looks decent

Can take a picture again while wearing the armor? Just the ab, skirt and pouches is enough. I still think it’s a lot of straps.

I fired up the game. I got it as a gift but never played it 😁. Just don’t like the Battlefront series. Took some time to figure out how to select the shoretroopers. The greeblie has not been modeled, it’s not present on both the heavy and the specialist.

They left the brown strap brown on the heavy, so if there was a greeblie I would assume it would still be silver since they only replaced the Sahara Beige with black. But since it’s not there any guess is good.

Okay couple of things:

1)  If you look in the draft CRL I wrote, I had the greeblie down as silver.  I think that's what we should go with even though the game designers didn't bother to model it.

2)  I was concerned about the criss cross before it was even attempted.  And it is a little janky in Getjan's photo.  But I do think it looks better in the second.  I'm willing to give it another chance before getting rid of the straps all together.  I'm just concerned that without the straps, the pouches will be extremely heavy and awkward.  Something that the knucklehead 3D designers didn't take into an account and is exactly why we don't treat video game designs as sacrosanct.

But great progress has been made and I am looking forward to getting this one done!

@ScaryGuy

The ammo pouches sits a bit higher now. Resulting in the criss cross pattern overlapping each other. The criss cross folds are tighter now, but it looks decent in my opinion. I'm afraid that without straps it would be more flimsy and heavier. As of now, it already feels really heavy wearing the two of them. So without straps, I can imagine that it would make it akward.

The pouches are quite heavy, so I agree the belt is probably not strong enough to hold the pouches in place. Additional attachments to the ab section would be required. This makes it difficult if you want to switch between variants.

I am going to make a picture of the whole costume first. And then proceed from there.

Since you are slightly ahead of me at this point, I'm following along closely!

Can I suggest instead of crossing the pouch straps, just connect them on the same side that they come from?  Yes, they will be slightly different than the standard shore, but since we are adding them in on a model that doesn't have them at all, we can take a slight bit of liberties?

I would say the pouches hang too low, they should cover the belt boxes. Silver greeblie looks good, as does the overall look.

Pouches hangs too low wouldn't be too bad right? If I compare it to the Shoretrooper Grunt source material, those bags hangs also too low

I think the top of the pouches should at least match the top of the belt boxes.

Edit:  @Gertjan Kool I looked through the Vanguard applications and some also carry their pouch also as low as this. So I guess it should be fine this way.

I am pretty happy with this strap arrangement now.  If you are good with it @ScaryGuy then I am going to proceed with it.

@Gertjan Kool -- the ammo strap is curling up on your left hand side where it inserts into the buckle.  I had that same problem with mine too and I flattened it out with some heat.   Not a big deal, just a little bit of polish for your costume!

Yes, I’m happy with how it looks in the 2nd picture. We can keep the straps for this one too,
