Hello! Thoughts about my costume for approval?

Aurel

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone 😄

I just signed up on this forum. I'm Aurel and I come from France. I would like to know your general thoughts about my armor/weapon.

I apologize for the luminosity which is not perfect especially for the details about the black parts. I have other pictures without the weapon and left/right side armor. Just tell me if you'd like to see these.

The armor should meet the CRL requirements, but there may be some details I have not taken into account.

Feel free to give your opinion 😄

Salut Aurel et bienvenue chez les Pathfinders!

In order to give you a good once over we'll need your left and right sides and a back photos. Make sure you do this without the DLT-19 so we can focus on your costume. The one item I see that might hinder you some for basic approval is that your cod piece is much too large. You'll want to make it smaller as shown in the CRL photo below. We're here to help you be successful so please post up a few more photos and we'll do everything we can to help you out.

Welcome Aurel.. I am not expert, and maybe someone else could correct me if I am wrong... Maybe the belt is a little high in this picture and I cant tell if it is just the picture or what, but it looks like the cod is a little off (like it has little corners in it)....  But like I said, I may be a little off... I am no expert LOL

Hi Aurel..well done.

i agree with both Peter and Nathan.

A couple more photos without the rifle so we can assist and give you the correct advice.

Your belt needs to be lowered, though once lowered you will have to adjust your pouches.

The COD is also too large, it takes up more than have the leg area.

once you’ve adjusted your armour correctly, this will give you a better picture on what needs to fixed.

Thank you all for your advices 😄

These photos are all I have at the moment, and I don't have my costume right now. But tell me anyway if you'd like some more. (On some photos, my right forearm is under the glove, it's a mistake and the left upper arm is not really up, sorry, those were the first photos I took, not perfect)

Indeed, the cod piece is too large, but you mean in both width and height?

I can adjust the width so it's more like the CRL photo, but concerning its height and the belt, as the cummerbund and the cod piece are in two parts, there is a separation hidden by the belt, so I cannot lower it too much. And lowering the cummerbund will make the black suit visible under the chest.

But I'll do my best to apply your advices. Please tell me if some other adjustements need to be made. Thanks!

Aurel,

Understand when parts drop when you're taking photos, been there, if they do tend to drop more so, and the elastic isn't working, I added foam on the inside, being a small lady it helps.

With your next lot of photos, make sure the lighting is clearer, the black parts of your armour aka pants patches and sleeves are hard to make out.

See how you go with the pulling down the belt after adjusting the size of the cod, it may make a big difference and the bun can still sit where it is.

I have noticed the elastic is quite tight around the leg, its making your pants bunch up, you may want to unpick and add a longer piece?.

Your belt at the back the cross over of the drop boxes belts?  Other Armours might chime in on that one.

You're looking great, is just those small items that will later drive you nuts.

Hello everyone!

It has been quite a long time since my first posts, a lot of things happened on my side and I couldn't move forward, but everything's better now :)

According to your advice, I made some adjustments and wanted to share these with you.

I reduced the size of the codpiece. Unfortunately, the cummerbund is too small, so I have to deal with it for now. I'm planning to either extend its height or make a new one, so the belt can be pulled down. To prevent the cummerbund from dropping, I added some velcro on the inside.

I also added a small detail on the backtank that my local GML asked me.

The lighting should be clearer this time :)
There may still be some details to adjust. Please let me know ;)

The validation process has been... really tough, but ultimately I just got approved (a relief should I say :D ) I'm glad to be part of this great family!

Cummerbund height looks fine.  It should be the same size as the pouches, which it is.  Your belt is on your waist, which is also where it should be.  I don't see any issue there at all.  Observe a production costume.  You can see the height of the bund and just high up the belt is:

If you could, insert some fabric stiffener into your codpiece to give it some support.  That will help keep its shape.

Looks good overall!  Nice work.

Congrats on your approval!

One comment on the back tank detail --

I recognize that your GML asked for it for basic approval, but note that the little trapezoid on the horizontal pinstripe is only used with 4 "rank" stripes.

From the CRL, Level 2:

"If tank has extra trapezoid detail on the center tank pin striping, only 4 thick rank bars are acceptable."

I understand, I will remove the two extra bars of the tank. But I don't understand the "If tank has extra trapezoid detail", was this detail mandatory for the first approval?

About this level 2, I was wondering if I would need to make the whole same validation process? Would it be reviewed by my local GML or by you? Not planning it for now, I was just wondering ;)

Thank you in advance.

The extra trapezoid detail is not mandatory in any way for basic approval -- it's totally optional. And should you choose to use it for a Level 2/Lancer review, then it should only be when using the 4 rank version. Note also that the 4 bar ranks are double thick.

Honestly, it'd be easier to just keep the 6 bar rank and remove the trapezoid.

The Lancer review process is administered by the Detachment. See this link for more information about the application process.
