Well the boots have already arrived. But the holster hasn't :)

Oh sorry, I just realized that Ross at RWA is doing the trimming for you. I'd stick with the green line. It's always easier to do more trimming once you receive your armor, than to try and tack more material on after the fact.

They'll have a look on that too. I'm very happy with them. I'm based on this image:

And this is mine currently:

Well maybe a 1cm trim?

Hi Chopper, I'm Colin and I'm building this armour for pben. He said I could post here. I have a few questions about the tank fixing. I have been fixing tanks with 12mm elastic attached to the top, riveted through the topper. Is the same method used at the bottom? In these 2 images you can see the elastic returned around the bottom of the back armour, from the rivet.

Can you give a location for the tank topper? Is this accurate? I've seen some which are closer to the back.

Also should there be a return on the bottom of the back plate or does it finish at the bottom of the bevelled section.

Apologies for all the questions, thanks in advance for your help.

Yes, the elastic is riveted on the inside of the top as well as the bottom.

As per the CRL: .5 inch elastic strap anchored to the tank rivets on top and bottom and loops around the inside of the back armor.

There is some variation with the tank topper mounting, with some being closer to the back armor than others. The following is from the gallery in the CRL, so you can't go wrong there:

If there's a return edge on the bottom of the back armor, it's really small, probably < 1mm. Most of the armor I've seen doesn't have a return edge on the bottom of the back plate and there's no specification requiring one.

Hey there, I'm about to rivet the holster to the boots. What is your opinion on the positioning? The holster rests 1.5cm below the boot top.

That position looks about right, Pedro.

Thank for your quick advice! Also, the holster size is also about right for Lancer, I guess?

I feel it's a good shape. Though it's not riveted yet and has only tape at the top.

Hey guys,

I'm having a Basic approval CRL doubt about the straps that connect the back and the chest.

Chest Armor

The sides of the chest armor attach to the back armor with white webbing.

OPTIONAL Level two certification (if applicable):

Side under arm chest/back straps are made from 40mm (1.5") white cotton webbing.

Optional: 40mm (1.5 inch) white elastic material is acceptable provided the color matches.

My reading of this is that we need to basic approve the armor with webbing straps but have the option to use elastic straps at the Lancer submission? Shouldn't it be the opposite? Webbing/elastic for Basic and just webbing for Lancer?

I'd admit that the wording isn't super precise there, but my read on the intent is that the "webbing" in Level 1 only defines the color. Webbing can be made of a number of materials, polypro, nylon, cotton, elastic.

In Level 2 it gets more specific stating that the webbing should be cotton material, as it was in ROTJ, or elastic if the color matches.

In instances where there can be some wording confusion between the level requirements, my personal opinion is that Level 2 should be accepted. However, as with all basic approvals, your GML would have final say on it.

Thank you! That helps to clarify-
