Hey Pedro! Glad to see you taking the plunge. Sounds like you have a solid plan to start this journey. Be sure to post up any questions you have. You’ll find lots of Scouts ready to help and offer tips and tricks if you have questions about your build. Looking forward to seeing your progress pics.

Nice job on the collar.
For the patches, I’d raise the top up to at least were your zipper starts, and I strongly recommend rounding the squared off portion at the top.
If you don’t have your measurements just right then that squared corner may poke out from behind your cod piece. It probably won’t effect basic approval, but if you plan to go for Lancer, and I hope you do, then you may be asked to round those corners if they do protrude past your cod piece and that means seam ripping that portion of your patch, cutting the suede and restitching it by hand.

Thank you! You got a point on the rounding the top part of the patches. I already have my cod piece and the cummerbund so I could try if it fits right but it will be easier to do as you suggest. About the positioning, the patch is already just below the lower snap button.

If you have the cb and cod on hand then definitely do a test fit to see how everything aligns. That will allow you to fine tune your pattern.

I’m speaking from experience because I originally squared off my top and the corners ended up protruding from behind my cod. So I had to seam rip the top of the patch, round the corners and then stitch by hand. It was a pain to do, so if I can save someone else the hassle it’s worth it.

If you look at the crl photo the patches actually curve in behind the cod piece giving it a cleaner look.

I've just test fitted and I saw it was a narrow one. Some trooping minutes and the squared patch could be seen under the cod... I've rounded it up already cut the leather and pinned it for the seamstresses. I've left some allowance for the seams and some adjustments too. I'll also ask her to take in 4 cm (near 2 inches ) in each legs for a best fit.

Does the elastic on the sides need to be sewn under the patch or it could be just really close?

Sounds like you have everything in hand. Nice work.

As for the strapping. It should be sewn under the patches. They should be attached about an inch or so below the crotch. See the CRL photos for proper placement.

You may want to suit up again to make sure that when you cut the strapping it is “Goldilocks” (just right). You don’t want it too snug where it pulls on your undersuit and constricts the leg, and not too loose where it sags and hangs down on the side of your leg.

You can always post up a photo with you wearing it if you’re not sure and we’ll give you feedback to assist with any questions you may have.

Keep up the great work!

Hey all,

My build has seen some updates. The armor and helmet was already pulled and are in the assemblage process by RWA. The undersuit got from the seamstress and I have a couple of doubts about some Lancer specs.

About the front thigh straps, are these OK or seem a little loose?

About the back thigh straps are these OK or loose and is the butt flap ok or it should be half an inch lower?

Hi Pedro! Looking at your flight suit your thigh straps are looking a little bit loose. I also noticed what look like pockets on your flight suit and those should be removed per the CRL “The suit is free of any visible labels, logos, zippers or pockets.“

The bund is looking pretty good and the only thing I see there is that the back isn’t fully closed at the top.

It’s always helpful to keep a copy of the CRL about as a “checklist” so you can compare each of your build steps against it.

You’re doing a great job so far so keep those questions coming and keep up the great work!

Updates so far.

The flighsuit is back from the seamstress with the thigh straps tighten. I've already tried it on and it's as expected. I should take a pic just for this WIP.

I've had notice that Chef's has finished my boots. Here is an image of his last batch. Mine are in the middle.

The guys at RWA Creations also updated me on the armor build. Trimming is not yet finished. That was some days ago, so it should be more assembled by now.

About the vest sleeves, thinking on Lancer submission. Does the quilted lines need to have 1 inch or it could be 1 1/4''? As to say 2,50cm or 3cm?

Hi Pedro. I talked with the team and you shouldn’t have any issues if you keep the spacing between 2.5 and 3.0 cm for the vest sleeves. Hope that helps and keep asking those great questions!

That’s a good pair of boots right there. I wear a Chef vest that I got when I first joined in 2016 and it’s still in amazing condition. A couple of things to keep in mind when you get ready to install your holster on those boots. First, depending on the overall length you may have to trim some excess off of the top and bottom so if you want post up a pic of the holster and let us take a look at it and we can give you some guidance on that. Second, when you assemble your armor use the 3mm (1/8” US) rivets and you shouldn’t go wrong.

Oh and did your seamstress remove those pockets on your flight suit I mentioned in my earlier post? That’s a requirement for basic approval so you’ll want to get that addressed.

This is coming along famously! Keep up the great work!

Hi Pedro. Yes. It looks to me that the top and sides could use a little more trimming. @Chopperdo you agree?

Yessir, I'm guessing another 1mm-ish + trimmed off would do it.

@pben Here's a good image to use for reference:

Have your boots arrived yet? It's easier to determine the holster trimming if it's placed against your boot.

Well the boots have already arrived. But the holster hasn't :)
