Thigh patches material question.

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone!

Working on the detail this morning, sourcing the proper parts for my build.  After looking at the reference photos of the suede patches for the thighs/flap, I noticed that the color really looks closer to a dark graphite rather then black.  I just want to make sure I pick the right color so I don't have to do it over, as I am going to source this part out to a local seamstress. The CRL's don't mention color specifically so I thought I would ask the pros.

Reference pictures and Dark Graphite pig suede pictures for reference:

Hey dude, you want to get the black pig suede for your riding patches and butt flap.

There are usually scraps available on eBay. Let me find a link for you.

OK, I wasn't sure because the Dark Graphite looks to match the reference pictures closer but I will get black. Just an example of my OCD 😆  Thanks Chopper.

This is basically what you're looking for. Should be more than enough material.

This stuff seems to be rarer than hens teeth here in the uk . The only thing preventing me going for Lancer ...you guys in the us have life so simple !!!!

I decided to go with a fully complete tailored soft armor set for myself, however I will be more then happy to get you some and send it your way if you like.

Sometimes that can be due to the lighting.  I had taken some photos of my suit in bright sunlight and they looked more dark gray than black, but black is what you want.

Also after you wear it for a while, wash it etc, it fades a little.
