OK.... I did it! I purchased my first armor kit in over 2 Decades!!

Hello everyone, My name is Nathan from Tucson, AZ. I am a former member of the 501st from the late 1990's during the founding of the Cloud City Garrison in Portland, OR.  I remember trooping Episode 1 in 1999 and many other events prior to that... Dang I just realized how old I am now...UUGGGHHH! My old 501st member number was TK-154, if that gives you a little time stamp on it LOL.

I clearly remember wearing my TK armor, and I knew I wasn't going that route again!!  Being 6'2" and 235lbs with a "stocky" build, it was hard for me to pull off a lot of costumes to keep the group and myself looking correct. You don't want your Stormtrooper towering over Vader LOL. So, I had narrowed it down to two other armored characters that I have wanted to wear (Vader & Scout Trooper) and chose a TB as my first build being back.

Now for full disclosure this isn't my first Scout build.  I actually built one in 2002 as a display in my home, but never wore it.  I don't remember what armor I used at the time, but I do remember using an Altmann's Officially Licensed 1 of 500 Helmets, which I loved!  So I contacted Spike and he was very helpful with the process.  Needless to say, I will be receiving a set of Altmanns Armor & Helmet to start off my "Big & Tall" Scout Trooper build.

I will be continuing researching and sourcing my best options for everything needed for this build. My plan is to build it right the first time, using the parts needed to achieve Lancer status without having to redo anything. I will keep updating my build list and progress as I go along.

Welcome back. I have an Altmann helmet as well but some pretty bruised and battered SC armor. Let us know if you have any questions and be sure to check the CRL as it's been updated a few times since you were last building. While you're at it make sure to check out the Lancer requirements as I'm sure that's the route you're taking.

Oh I am the king of questions and getting stuff right & uniform.... I swear the Army gave me OCD. LOL  Thank you for the welcome! I was a little worried about the larger scaled armor, but figured that uniforms are tailored to fit the wearer, who is to say the armor wasn't either?

Once again a heart felt welcome Nate! Really looking forward to following your progress on this build. Be sure to ask all and any questions as there’s a lot of knowledgeable and passionate scouts who are eager to help you succeed.

So glad to hear you’re going for Lancer too! Keep in mind that most of what you buy from vendors will most likely need a little modification to be brought up to Lancer specs. Building to Lancer specs from the outset is definitely the way to go rather than having to change or update stuff later.

Be sure to check out those WIPs that note Lancer in their title as they’ll have lots of tips and trick to help you get off to a great start.

It has been my hobby the last few days to just sit and ready all Lancer submissions, specifically paying attention to the corrections that need to be made and feedback given.  Being furloughed right now, I have a lot of down time. 🤣
