Greetings pathfinders,

looking to 3d print Alains E22 in petg and wanted to check the files are ok for 501st clearance. Anything worrying in the files i will need to mod or is it good to go? Going to do the stunt version with a doopy doos resin scope as the front mounting foot looks a bit square on the file.

I just printed Sean Fields' E-22 and that is totally approvable.  I'm looking at these files and nothing really jumps out at me as being off.

@ScaryGuy @KOtrooper this look okay to you?

The blaster is optional to be approved so if I was your GML, I'd give it a thumbs up for basic. If you're going for level 2 though, I'd use the correct screws from the start and swap out the scope rail. It should be flat and not bent like this one is.

I also used Sean Fields' files for my E-22 and it'll get you to Vanguard.

I'm fairly certain the Sean Fields files are free too

Thanks folks for your input. .

Got two concerns with Sean  files...the trigger guard and M shaped side plates don’t  look right. They have been pulled up for modification by uk armourers.Did you mod these?

The M plates I had to get separately. PM me and I will send to you. The trigger guard was wrong but has been corrected.

Hi guys, ok i think I’m there on the build.

Printed Sean’s files in carbon pla and modded the stock arms /fixing position and butts up against the pistol grip assembly now.

Used M4 bolts hex head and countersunk screws on power cells. Talon sling mounts and 1” web strap for the sling.

It was a lot of fun building and making it and i went for the more battle worn one of the 2 on show at swcc 2016.(used pics for ref)

Hope all is good and thanks again for your help 🙂👍

That looks great! So talk to me about how you weathered it. I think providing some details on your paint process and weathering techniques would be really helpful to troopers looking to emulate your look. It looks very natural as if the paint was chipped away during skirmishes. I for one am always interested in others weathering techniques, and I really like what you did here.

Many thanks for your kind comments
My ukg amourer Stefan pointed out that the base silver was a bit too clean so i have dirt washed a few passes and added some black wash for carbon build up. Also added light bluing to barrel ends on his suggestion. Looks like it’s seen a few more dirty battles
Simple techniques oldies but goldies. Quick to do
Base coat silver. Paint brush on toothpaste where you want your chips to be.
Spray black. Then rub off toothpaste areas with a damp cloth.
Use 280-300 grit sand paper and sand all the high points lightly through to the silver coats and anywhere else you want to show wear.
Raw umber and black washes for filth and dirt build up.
Thats about it i think.
Hope this helps
