Looking for thigh patch pattern

Recommended Posts

Does anyone have a pattern for the inner thigh patches? I need to redo mine and looking for a decent pattern. Like maybe a PDF file?

No pattern, just the measurements as shown in the photos.  It's hard to nail down a pattern since we all come in so many sizes and shapes.  Many people do a pattern on paper or on spare fabric first to test it out.  I would start with the measurements shown above and adjust as needed.

This was a post from the forum that Bootlegger mentioned. He’s right on point with that suggestion and I’d recommend that you give it a good look through. Take those measurements and make yourself up some paper or cardboard patterns and try them out on your flightsuit and then tailor them to your size.

The CRL photos are a good reference on where they should sit along with the approved WIP threads.

The flight suit detail page also has some good, clear reference photos and you can find that here:

Please feel free to post up what you come up with in your WIP thread and we can help you adjust should you need to.

Good luck and keep asking those excellent questions!

Phil,

If your interested you can check out my build thread where I detailed how to make a pattern for the patches.

I used chalk on the undersuit to sketch out how I wanted them. The benefit is that you can wipe away the markings with a damp cloth and redo if needed. I also posted my undersuit with the chalk outline to get feedback before I created the actual pattern.

I then used a brown paper bag overlaid on the undersuit to make the pattern. I have some measurements in the photos but I started with the link posted by Bootlegger to get my starting measurements and tweaked as needed for my fit.

I will say that I needed to round the corners of the front patches afterwards as the straight corner was poking out from behind my cod ever so slightly. I’d recommend rounding that edge in your pattern.

The problem with a standard pattern is that the patches need to be proportional to you.

When I did mine I put on an old pair of pants, stood in front a mirror while my partner had some chalk and the pic from the crl.

When the chalk lines matched the reference pics as closely as we could get them I took off the pants and cut them out.  Bingo, my personal templates.
